Imagine a life without internet, everything would be different, many would not know what to do. It was just 25 years ago that the internet was created and changed the world. In 1989, the World Wide Web was created by Tim-Berners-Lee. Before the internet, information had to be acquired by books, people, or other written works. Now, anything a person would ever need to know is at the tip of their fingers. There are many ways that the World Wide Web has changed the world. It is still not accessible to everyone, but it is rapidly growing. In wealthy countries most families have several ways to access the internet. The pros and cons of the internet are indefinite, but most would say that it has definitely more of a help than harm. Communication is a pro, communicating is now easier than ever before. Research has both pros and cons. It is more efficient and less time consuming. It is also a con in that plagiarism is occurring or often. Social media is meant for good, but many problems have occurred from it.
Technology is creating a whole new realm for journalism. Before the World Wide Web, the majority of journalism was done by newspaper companies. Now, newspapers are slowly declining in the journalism world. People are still using them, but many people now have ways that are more readily accessible. Websites such as Yahoo, NBC, CNN, Google, Fox, Huffington, New York Times and many more are being used by millions of people every year. Some people like the classic newspaper because they have it in person and it is easier; Most older people use the newspaper since they are not as familiar with technology. Younger people are using technology and using those websites, the websites are accessible twenty-four hours a day and seven days a w...

Education, expression, accessibility, these are all benefits to us as internet users. As Cascio said “Google isn't the problem; it's the beginning of a solution” (Cascio). Google is a part of the internet therefore Cascio’s words can still be applied to the idea of the internet being a tool of more use than harm. Technology has proven to be nothing but helpful by improving the life we live. The world is constantly changing and as humans we are too, as Cascio said “How do we cope? By getting smarter” (Cascio). This means we've allowed technology to assist in the tasks we can't do alone and found faster and better methods for problem solving instead of taking difficult and struggling
I say this because there were points in which I personally could not really understand what was going on due to my lack of exposure to this problem that American journalism is facing. More specifically, terminology that was used, especially from business standpoints, and the different companies that were involved made it harder to keep up with the issue at hand. However, with a little editing and better explanation of terminology, I think that this film could extend to a wide audience that would include both digital natives and digital immigrants that are experiencing this transition within American news reporting. This paper will examine the difference between old and new journalism and its new standards, “The New York Times Effect” and its 21st century challenges, important qualifications to be a successful journalist, and the future role of journalism within American society.

Information Technology has revolutionised the way through which people access information. Chen’s article, “Newspapers fold as readers defect and economy sours” shows this by detailing the collapse of the newspaper industry and its replacement by online news. Prior to the widespread availability of the internet, consumers were forced to rely on newspapers and television to find out the news of the world. These comparatively old medias are offered to the public on a delay due to the process of printing and production. However, the internet now offers news and information to these same people, free of charge and on demand.
Cheating in the classroom has been happening since the first schoolhouse was built; however, it has more than doubled in the last decade due to the emergence of new technologies that give students high tech alternatives to looking at their classmate's paper. "A 2002 survey by the Josephson Institute of Ethics of 12,000 high-school students found that 74 % of students had cheated on an exam at least once in the previous year. According to Donald McCabe, who conducted the Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey, study, the Internet is partly to blame. The Internet makes plagiarism very simple. In-class cheating has also gone high technology. Experts say students who cheat are not just scribbling tiny crib sheets anymore. They are using their cell phones to instant message questions and answers or storing notes on their graphing calculators." ("Eye on Cheaters," 2004)
The 'New Editorial Concepts ' a strategy report published by the World Association of Newspapers says that there 6 key factors that have affected how newsrooms today function. All of these directly link to the development of the internet and the subsequent platforms that have developed from it. The news today is more interactive, allowing for more conversation rather than one way communications. People are aware of what it is that they want to know
Thirty years ago, if I told you that the primary means of communicating and disseminating information would be a series of interconnected computer networks you would of thought I was watching Star Trek or reading a science fiction novel. In 2010, the future of mass media is upon us today; the Internet. The Internet is and will only grow in the future as the primary means of delivering news, information and entertainment to the vast majority of Americans. Mass media as we know it today will take new shape and form in the next few years with the convergence and migration of three legacy mediums (Television, Radio, Newspaper) into one that is based on the Internet and will replace these mediums forever changing the face of journalism, media and politics. In this paper I will attempt to explain the transition of print media to one of the internet, how the shift to an internet based media environment will impact journalism and mass media, and how this migration will benefit society and forever change the dynamic of news and politics.

Demographically, it has been reported that boys are more likely than girls to be perpetrators of cyber bullying whereas girls are more likely than boys to be involved in both aspects of cyber bullying – the perpetrator and the victim (Mishna, Khourg-Kassabri, Gadalla, & Daciuk, 2012; Sengupta & Chaudhuri, 2011; Slonje & Smith, 2008...
Through technological advancements the television and internet now deliver the news instantly into our homes, which has inadvertently put pressure on the traditional newspaper to deliver up-to-the minute news. As technology developed swiftly over the 20th century, some academics could see the demise of the newspaper as early as the late 1960s. Marshall McLuhan (HREF1) an academic and commentator on communications technology prophesied “that printed books would become obsolete, killed off by television and other electronic information technology”. To compete with other more sophisticated electronic media systems, and to survive, newspapers joined the technological revolution and many publications went online in the fight to remain the number one information provider (Kesley 1995:16). In contrast, Kelsey (1995) states the main reaso...
In conclusion, all things considered, it is clear there are a number of causes for printed newspapers losing their audience. Even though people say: “Print is dead. Online is king”, by taking all the solutions above in to account traditional newspapers can be saved (Halbrooks).

The newspaper industry presaged its decline after the introduction of the television and televised broadcasting in the 1950s and then after the emergence of the internet to the public in the 1990s and the 21st century with its myriad of media choices for people. Since then the readership of printed media has declined whilst digital numbers continue to climb. This is mostly due to television and the internet being able to offer immediate information to viewers and breaking news stories, in a more visually stimulating way with sound, moving images and video. Newspapers are confined to paper and ink and are not considered as ‘alive’ as these other mediums.
Newspapers have been around since the early 18th century, gaining prominence after 1790 during the colonial era. Magazines followed right behind newspapers and gained popularity as well, television followed last, booming in popularity in the 1960’s. Television is still the most often used source for news and other information, such as the weather. But new forms of mass media are on the rise, such as channels, blogs and podcasts, which have been around since the early 2000’s but are now picking up momentum and gaining prominence as a news source. There are similarities as well as differences between the old media and the new media, and while the new media is more modern and accessible it does not have to push old media out of the picture, the two can be combined for the benefit of the consumers and the company, providing reliable information at a faster speed.
