The Sport of Soccer
Not much is known about the origin of soccer. However, the Greeks and Romans played football and ball kicking games. The London Football Association developed the first sets of rules in 1863. British sailors and settlers brought the game to India, South America and Europe.
During the late 19th century, soccer was brought to the United States.

Today soccer is classified as one of the most popular sports in the world, from Europe to South America. A synonym for soccer is “Football.” Soccer is played in approximately every nation of the world. The sport has a lot of international fans, with spectacular stadiums worldwide (Auerbach). Soccer is a sport that brings countries together from all around the world to play.
In conclusion, soccer is my favorite sport because, it is an easy and enjoyable game. It releases energy while you play. Teammates make connections which can last from one game to the rest of their lives. The game also has a rich history that shows the game was enjoyed before modern times. If you have not tried the sport I suggest you do, YOU WILL NOT REGRET
There is a great amount of history regarding soccer, like its birthplace, rules, how it is played, and how it became so popular over time. Soccer is played worldwide and it is a very popular sport besides in the United States of America, which is predominated by football. The only difference I can possibly think between soccer and football is that soccer is played using your feet unlike football in which it is ok to use your hands. Soccer it’s played every year like football, both sports share an identical objective, which is to score against the other team during a fixed period of time. If ever were to be bored and wanted to watch a soccer match I could easily get online and browse throughout all of the types of soccer leagues and start watching one. There are plenty of leagues in soccer; it all depends on the region. For instance if I were to watch the Major League soccer (MLS) I would be watching people play on football fields with names that I have never heard of, besides a couple of Europeans players. All of this is due to the fact that the MLS is held in the United States of America and soccer is not the forte of American sports and it does not get much attention. However, if I were to watch an Italian league, Mexican, Spanish or any European league I could easily identify almost all of the players.
Football is the most popular sport in the world. It is backed by a long history that's incomparable to other popular sports in the world like basketball, volleyball, and tennis. In fact, two of North America?s favourite sports in American football and rugby were created based on the game we call 'soccer'. So why is it that the original game of football is not as nearly as famous as in North American than any other countries outside our continent? A real good reason for this is because soccer doesn't have a great tradition in North America, unlike other sports such as American football, hockey, or basketball. Also, the cultural difference makes soccer less rampant in North America because many of us can?t seem to be patient enough to watch a sport with no frequent excitement. This mostly involves a preferred team scoring numerous times during a match. There are also plenty of other exciting sports that North Americans love to watch and play. Thus, soccer is put in the middle of the backseat of a crammed van, a place where nobody wants to be in or even pay attention to.
...t very seriously and expend most of their free time trying to get better. In the United States, though, this is virtually reversed. This is not to imply that countless players at all strata in the U.S. do not take the sport as earnestly or try as much as their European counterparts. However, soccer is placed neatly on a high shelf next to tennis and golf, written off for the large part as a sport of the affluent and wealthy. Masculinity also plays a role, as many see football to be much manlier, played traditionally by the archetypal jock. Major League Soccer (MLS) achieves only a fraction of the viewership of the National Football League (NFL). Matches are only broadcast on national networks once in a blue moon, if at all. It is plain to see, especially at U of M, how little emphasis is placed on soccer in comparison to football. One need only to follow the money.
Football is known around the world but unfortunately not played. Football is an American based sport which ironically is played only in the United States, while soccer on the other hand is played all over the world. Another difference is the kit/protective gear used in playing. In football, Helmet, Shoulder/Chest pad/protector, upper leg padding and mouth guard are rightfully required while in soccer, Shin guards and Boots is all that is required. This is why Soccer is considered a gentleman 's sport played by beasts and Football is a beastly game played by
Throughout the world, there are different forms of soccer that vary in Style, Technique and Intensity mainly in South America, Europe, and the United States.
Conclusively, American football and soccer do have lots of fans where ever they may be played. Players in both games are seen as celebrity, and most times are celebrated as heroes and legends in their teams. Most of these players earn huge amount of money, are play these games as a source of livelihood.
