Are you worried about your exam scores? Have you ever joined in an after-class learning organization? According to the recent social research, 18% of the students who join in the after-class organizations for learn really get an improving result. But 68% of them did not improve their scores in school test. Even worse, the rest of them were no good than before. Some after-class learning organizations should be forbidden because they are not only useless, but also waste people lots of money. And what is more, we can learn well or better only in daily classes and they make students too exhausted to learn normally.
Those organizations are useless. Students want their exam scores to be higher, but as usual, after-class learning organization may not make them satisfied. Actually, such learning system do harm to students’ learning, on understanding and memories, because knowledge needs digesting rather than pouring into humans’ brains. As Yang Jin (August 2009 High School Education in China, Challenges and Priorities)says, “Education in China should change commonalities into indivi...
Many of Federal Way's alternative high schools or high school programs are actually schools within the Federal Way Public School System. The city also has private schools, special education schools and religious schools but they are not designated as alternative schools. Students in Federal Way have many options when it comes to education.
British Historian Edward Gibbon once said,"Every man who rises above the common level has received two educations: the first from his teachers; the second, more personal and important from himself." Nowadays, our society is developing rapidly, more and more parents want their children to be educated. Every parents notice that how education important is. There are different kinds of education, not only going to school everyday, but also learning knowledge or skills by yourself. More and more international schools are founded in China nowadays, they absolutely show that how Chinese education system and Canada education system are different. In this paper, it will illustrate that Chinese education is different from Canadian education because it's
...hildren 's independent awareness, rather than the outcome of a grade. While the American students are increasingly more adaptive in social context, they are deprived the capability to function in a mostly intellectual environment. In China, however, the lack of individualism allegedly encourages a nation that supports the government and does not fight against the original social norms and values. Instead of trying to create a well-rounded student, the Chinese education system focused more on the intellectual ability of the student. With an overwhelming focus on the academic skills, the Chinese students may be lacking in the ability to speak and think for themselves. These two education systems are polar opposites, yet it is hard to decide whether one is better than the other. The verdict on which education system works more successfully, depends on the student alone.
The article titled “Order in the Classroom” goes in depth into the education system; its flaws, strengths, and what needs mending. Author Neil Postman, an educator of New York University includes his perspective on the education system. One remark by contributor William O’Connor, explains that the education in our schools is not inferior, the schools have been getting inferior students (Postman, 309). The students are not inferior in our education system. If we were to look in depth at some of the issues we hold, maybe that mindset would change. What makes us inferior is the fact that we do not teach our children things they need to know before beginning school, we have a horribly structured school day, we believe that socioeconomic status will change a student’s learning and ability and we believe in punishing students who cause disturbances. These are all very low and hurtful perspectives to hold when discussing education.
Learning Organizations are vital in assisting businesses to operate effectively. In this rapidly changing environment learning organizations acquire knowledge and innovates faster, helping the organization to thrive and survive the changing environment. Businesses that establish a learning organization create a culture encouraging and supporting the employees learning, and take risks with critical thinking, and new ideas.
The history of the school system in the United States shows that the standard for teaching was centered on meeting the challenges of both the Agricultural Age and the Industrial Age, and according to Duffy (2010), was a fixed approach to teaching, designed for sorting students rather than for learning, in order to educate large numbers of children and to determine laborers from managers. However, the Knowledge Age is requiring stakeholders to reevaluate the requirements necessary for educating our children going forward. This societal paradigm shift is large and pervasive, requiring institutions to co evolve in creating more customized approaches to organization design, serving customers, and providing services so that students can succeed in the twenty-first century Knowledge Age (Duffy, 2010). The purpose of this paper is to share a planned and an unplanned change that has tak...
Chapter one relates to class because of the opportunity cost and utility. An opportunity cost is defined as “what one gives up to consume a good or service.” The utility of an item is subjective and its “usefulness” varies. For the cheating school teachers, money or recognition is worth putting their
Bray work as a chair Professor Comparative Education at the University of Hong Kong, he used to be UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning 2006 till 2010. The author describes private lessons with the term “The Shadow Education System”. The author says that private lessons had spread and consumed a lot of money and affects a lot of the student’s time. The author also mentions that although private lessons might be a good thing helping students, but it is controlling their time and the family’s income. The author says that in Egypt about 20% of the family’s income is spent on private lessons. This article is supporting my issue and by that the author provided a percentage of how much these lessons affect the family’s income.
By providing good leaders and reformers to the society, schools lead the society towards the social change. It prepares the members of the society to accept the changes. Moreover, schools help students to keep up with the world. Society is dynamic and changes very frequently. As we all know, new technologies keep coming up. If we do not want to be left behind, we must keep up with the world. Without education, it will be very difficult for us to adapt the changes. Hence, it is essential that the character and nature of education, imparted in the school, also change according to the needs and developments of the society. In essence, a school plays an instrumental role in preparing the new generation for
Having some courses with no grades gives the students the ability to learn the material, be more interactive without worrying about the interaction, and increase their performance in challenging tasks.
A focus needs to be put on the needs of the individual as opposed to the masses. We do not want our system to fall prey to dropping education standards. Rather than challenging the lower level students to make higher grades, administration currently matches their minimum level of effort as a passing grade. This is hurting students of all intelligence levels, as it holds back the stronger students and reduces the challenge for the weaker children. Independent study will be a major part of academic courses, so students can choose their own pace for many assignments. It will also be easy for students to get help before or after school, either through meeting the teacher in person or through utilizing online chat systems where they can speak to their teachers outside of the classroom. The classroom environment will be more laid back compared to how it is today, and teachers will serve as role models to our students. Ralph Waldo Emerson says in his essay “Education”, “Teach them to hold their tongues by holding your own” (Emerson). Students will thrive in a stress free environment, rather than in the current anxiety-building system. Final grades will be determined by yearlong success and by a course examination. Students will have freedom to choose whether they would like to focus their exam on multiple-choice or writing sections (whichever they feel more comfortable with). “Understanding doesn’t mean that you can suddenly speak the language. Far from it. It’s a small step, nothing more, yet rewards are intoxicating and deceptive” (Sedaris). Our schools wish to promote 100% success, and rather than letting students get away with putting in minimal effort, we will push them to give it their all.
For students in China, the most important thing in their education process is taking tests. And the most important tests are the College Entrance Examinations which now include 9 subjects: Chinese, English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Politics, History and Geography. The scores of this series of exams will decide what kind of university or college to which they can apply and in what major they will be. Other words, the scores can decide students’ futures. These exams also mean a lot to high schools. The percentage of students being admitted into college is the standard for judging whether a school is good or not. And therefore, students study for gaining a high score, and teachers teach for gaining a high number of students being admitted. When tests become the final target of the education, it is called Test-Oriented Education.
Education is of the essence. It is a process in which an individual acquires knowledge. It is what helps us survive in this cruel world. Unfortunately, the system of education has become a complete mess for everybody. Almost every day you’ll hear another issue about it on the news and on the internet. There are many challenges facing schools, teachers and students and there are many educational philosophies about how to address these issues.
Education should be looked upon a right to everyone, just like freedom and existence. To make our education a right, the civil can choose to study wherever they get in troubles. “The situation is entirely different for most undergraduates, especially poor and minority students” (Kirp). For those of the students who drop out from school, the majority of them are suffering from poverty and seldom of help. Money is the main issue that affects people whether they go to school. “To help balance the demands of college with works, life and family obligations, students take their classes in a consolidated course schedule” (Kirp). External elements do strongly affe...
