The World War I, was fought among Great Britain, France, Russia and more in 1914-1918. In this war, more than nine million people died towards the cause of the world war. This has been recognized as the bloodiest war in history by many soldiers risking their life for freedom. However not just soldiers died as well as animals like horses. The horses were employed for transportation and to carry goods. The southern Calvary was a better horseman so they use horses to their advantage. Soldiers would’ve not been able to fight the war without the help of the horses. They were applied to conduct military equipment, and increase mode of transportation; This benefit brought consequences for the horses.

Horses were operated as transportation from place to place during the war. They also were conducted to attack any enemy that was willing to attack their master. History today discusses how “train trooper and horses to be truly effective as Battlefields Calvary” (warhorses”14). Horses were often used as a shield which resulted from them taking a bullet for their masters. They deliver messages to other soldiers and civilians throughout the war. “Many commanders instead deployed cavalry away from the battlefield on raids on the enemy lines of communications” (‘warhorses”15). Horses were used to cut down on travel time during combat. History Today explains that “General B.H. Grieson, led 2,000 horsemen through Mississippi, marching 600 miles in less than 16 days” (‘warhorses”15). By the service of a horse, soldiers could arrive at their destination quickly. Also, this cuts down at the additional exhaustion of the soldiers so they would be more ready for the battle. By allowing soldiers to conserve their energy into it prepared them to fight effectively in the war. As before discuss horses were useful for carrying equipment and general transportation was one of the benefit horses provided in the World
