Thomas Jefferson was the third American President. Due to the fact that he was such an early President, he influenced our political system greatly, both in the short and long term with his seemingly quiet approach to congressional matters. During his presidency, many things happened that changed the United States as we know it. He coordinated the Louisiana Purchase, assisted in implementing the twelfth amendment, formed the character of the modern American President, and cut the U.S.’s war debt by a third.

He was very significant and did so many things that were very beneficial and important to the American society. Thomas Jefferson wrote the declaration of independence and was so fond with equality, freedom and justice for all citizens and everyone. He never gave up and kept trying. The life of Thomas Jefferson is not a boring one. He accomplished things that some people can only dream of. He not only played an important role in the founding of our great nation, but he also learned and discovered things that are still used to this day.
Before then he was already a very influential man who had changed the lives of everyone living in America. His contributions made to this country are written in a list, there is no doubt he was strong. Thomas Jefferson has been viewed to be a positive influence on old Jeffersonian America, as well as a negative one as he expanded and reshaped the country with instances like the Louisiana purchase. His efforts are viewed negatively by some, and very admirably by others but personally, I find that his attempts and reasons for things were hypocritical. He did things contradictory to what he said he wanted for the country. His presidency was successful but Thomas Jefferson was a hypocrite.
When Jefferson came into presidency, his ideals were to expand upon the idea of an agrarian nation, since agriculture and slavery were the leading factors for our country's economical strength at the time.

A Perspective on Thomas Jefferson’s Life
Thomas Jefferson was an author of the Declaration of Independence , the third president of the United States, and founder of the University of Virginia. As a public official, historian, Philosopher, and plantation owner, he served his country for over five decades (monticello.org). Jefferson is seen as a very honorable man by most people because of the positions he has taken and for all he has done for the nation. On the surface, only positive information about Thomas Jefferson is commonly discussed, but after some research his dark side came to light. Even though Thomas Jefferson was one of the founding fathers of the Declaration of independence, he shouldn’t be glorified as a saint because he was

Without Jefferson’s influence our country would not have the same freedoms we enjoy. For instance, he fought for slavery to end, but believed that whites and ex-slaves couldn’t live together and wanted to send them to their home countries. If he had won this argument, our land would be poorer because of what the African American people bring to our diverse communities.
