A lot of them are negative, but some are positive in the way that there should be steroids in sports. Josh Hodnik; a writer for the VPX live powerfully website claims that, “Steroids are cheating because it gives an unfair advantage to the players that are taking the drug, to the players who are not” (Hodnik). I disagree with this statement because, you cannot control someones life and what they want tot do with their life is their problem. Our society views sports differently than we think; we have such a strict mindset on the fact that winning is everything. If we change our views on just winning and just look at the athletes themselves, we maybe can get past the idea that steroids in sports is not bad.
This allows athletes to exercises faster and often without over working their body. The benefits of these performance-enhancing drugs aren’t worth it since there are more cons than pro because it can be dangerous to the human body and nobody wants to be known as a cheater. Athletes know the side effects but they ignore it due to the desire to succeed. “In response to the increased international awareness of the use of illegal PEDs, and the individual sporting associations’ apparent inability to successfully level the playing field, national governments have taken notice, and, in some cases, have instituted comprehensive national drug testing legislation for professional sport” according to "Safe At Home? Assessing U.S. Efforts To Protect Youths From The Effects Of Performance Enhancing Drugs In Sports."
That was said by the athlete Evander Holyfield, athletes should never be allowed into the hall of fame if caught using the drug it causes many long lasting or even pertinent harmful side effects. Even though steroids can help you make huge improvements in the field of sports, any professional athlete caught using steroids should be banded from the league because it sets a bad example to the next generation of players, steroids also gives a unfair advantage over competitors or other athlete. When I say “advantage” with steroids it means the player is taking a drug for the purpose of being better than anyone else and trying to raise their level in a unfair way. ”Hero” people make their favorite athlete out to be unstoppable. “Example” kids watch the athletes and try to be just like them.
Cortisone shots should be just as illegal as steroids are in the athletic world because injuries come with the risk of the sports. Instead what should happen is both should become legal and allowed in professional sports. This is because if steroids are illegal and not allowed in the sport, then everyone who uses steroids, even without getting caught, is a cheater and that is basically just someone lying to himself/herself. Instead of cheating and pretending to be honest, athletes should try a different approach. Instead, athletes should come out and be honest about their steroid use.
In conclusion, I think that drugs should still be banned in sports. There is a degree in which drugs should be used legally. Some steroids should be legal, but the majority of them are dangerous to a person’s body and only cause more damage. I think that this is an argument that will take years to fix and overcome. There should be absolutely no illegal drugs in sports.
This is not fair to the ones who are following the rules and not getting to play because of a player who is breaking the rules are getting better because of steroids not because they are deserving it. Steroids are also dangerous to take. Steroids can cause high blood... ... middle of paper ... ...eir team. Testing will be a great way to keep players from using steroids. With these test players won’t be able to get on steroids and get them out of their system before the next test.
If the law already prohibits this drug to regulars, how can a doctor prescribe it to people with a poor health condition? Now that drugs are a human’s worst enemy, it should not be legalized for the medical treatment because patients tend to abuse their advantage, other types of medications can help with diseases without negative effects, and using cannabis can damage health with tons of chemicals. Generally, with countless victims lured into the trap of addiction, people these days will do anything to have drugs in the palms of their hands. Drugs like marijuana seem to give people a peace of mind, and of course, anyone would massacre for that in this traumatic era. Because this plant is such a necessity to some people, it “lacks accepted ... ... middle of paper ... ...intends to beget what they want.
Because they are illegal, however, it is almost impossible to conduct the research necessary to prove that they may be used safely. Some drugs are illegal because they are mainly a political threat. This has been true for all psychoactive drugs throughout history. Drugs that change thoughts or behavior can make people less respectful of regulations and traditions. The drug users therefore become harder to control.
To cheat is to act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage. The use of performance –enhancing drugs in sports is morally wrong due to the fact that it is only a sign of cheating, impacts the future generation, and is deceiving to fellow audience. This goes against all the things sport fans theorize from athletes. People expect to see the individuals perform with the best of their abilities. It is what makes watching sports more interesting and creates competition.
Professional sports are very special in the United States. One reason for this is the spirit of competition. However, steroid use taints this competition. If steroids were to be completely eliminated from sports, the competition would be much more special because athletes would compete with their hearts and will, without an extra boost. Also, since not everybody can be a professional athlete, the elimination of steroid use, in my opinion, would make the fans appreciate the game more and make them feel more relatable.
