The Use of Computers in the Professional World The computer age has come to be the answer to the quest of the
paperless office in the modern world. Many professionals are required
to have a literacy of some level of the computer packages that
institutions and companies have. Even the small time briefcase
salesperson or entrepreneur use computer packages and software for
their day to day running of their businesses. The most widely used
computer packages used today are MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint,
which are all tools of Microsoft software. These packages are useful
in the professional arena especially to carry out research projects
and their daily business. I am a personal assistant at the World Bank
and all these packages are effective in any of our developmental
research programmes.
Microsoft Word is a powerful word processor. Besides just professional use, this paper is an instant example of the results and uses of MS Word as it has been typed using the package. You can do anything from letters to a thesis and the advantage of this package is that it assists you every step of the way with how to lay out a document, spelling, grammar and alternative words for big or small words to suit your type or line of work. The spelling and grammar tool is extremely convenient in that it can use many of the international languages. At the World Bank we use either the American or British English style of writing. MS-Word becomes an added advantage to our research assignments because it takes away the hassles of word by word pr...

These three Microsoft packages are inevitably very useful in my
profession during research because they have realistic and up to date
functions and instructions. However, as researchers, the World Wide
Web is by far the greatest tool to use in that it assists in getting
research material for almost anything in any field or subject. The
discussed three packages assist mainly with data presentation, typing
and general outlook of the finished research product.
With the rapid growth of technology in America’s society today, the use of computers in school classrooms has increased tremendously—an action that certainly has become beneficial to students, educators, and parents. The use of computers has positively skyrocketed over the past ten years. Not only are computers utilized daily in large companies across the world, but the everyday use in classrooms has also become prevalent. Using modern technology to assist school instructors with his or her daily lessons should definitely be regarded as a positive, acceptable method of instruction and not definitely does not prohibit students from understanding or critical thinking.
Thesis statement: With the power of computers at our hand, our society has made several improvements in different aspects of our everyday life which can range from education, all the way up to the government itself.
There is no doubt that computers are firmly implanted in our nation’s daily existence. Everyday I use a computer at least once, either writing a paper, surfing the Internet or checking my e-mail. On a recent trip to the library to do research I was quickly escorted by a librarian to the variety of computer databases, which are the fastest and most current source of information I found a survey in Statistical Abstracts of the United States comparing students use of computers in kindergarten through college from 1984 to 1993. A total of 27.3% of students used computers in schools in 1984, while a total of 59.0% used computers in 1993. This shows a steady rise in scholastic computer use and these figures are probably greatly inflated by now in 1997.
The computer evolution has been an amazing one. There have been astonishing achievements in the computer industry, which dates back almost 2000 years. The earliest existence of the computer dates back to the first century, but the electronic computer has only been around for over a half-century. Throughout the last 40 years computers have changed drastically. They have greatly impacted the American lifestyle. A computer can be found in nearly every business and one out of every two households (Hall, 156). Our Society relies critically on computers for almost all of their daily operations and processes. Only once in a lifetime will a new invention like the computer come about.
To remain competitive and employable in the twenty-first century workplace, society today must conform to the changing demands. Technology is one of the principal driving forces of the future; it is transforming our lives and shaping our future at rates unprecedented in history, with profound implications, which we cannot even begin to see or understand.
The key issues of problems surrounding the application of ICT are: privacy, ownership, the responsibility, professionalism, social implications and values. It is beyond doubt that there are benefits of new technologies such as industry development, going to the moon, e- learning systems and improved diagnosis in various fields. Technology is advancing inevitable and with new advancement it creates a vacuum in the new legislation which is not always easy to deal with. The British Computer Society (BCS) and other professional computer organisations such as the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) recognise the need for today’s graduates to be aware of the issues surrounding the use of computers in all aspects of society. The BCS is committed to raising the awareness of future computing professionals and requires that the social, legal...
First of all, for the working peoples, the appearances of computer technology bring up a convenient
The biggest and easiest seen change that computers have had on today’s society can be seen in the workplace. Before computers became an office tool and were made available to the average employee, paperwork and sharing information in an office setting was done by many different individuals constantly filing and looking up figures. Now a computer can store large amounts of information that is readily available to virtually anyone with the click of a mouse button. One person can complete a job that in a time before computers would take many. Computers have made file cabinets and libraries almost obsolete. Businesses can share information nation or even world wide in a matter of seconds. For example, a word document file can be sent from an office in New York to an office in Los Angeles in under a minute, in the past this same information would have taken a week to be sent through the mail. Computers have changed the way that factories are run too. On an assembly line, before computers every job, no matter how easy or difficult, had to be done by an employee. Now, however, computers run machines and do most of these tasks.

In addition to that, my writing skills also been improved due to engaging in writing this thesis. Regardless the general opinion that with increasing importance of information technology, the process of writing letters and reports are being replaced by alternative means of business communications, the writing will always be an important and significant for business
Word processing typically implies the presence of text manipulation functions that extend beyond a basic ability to enter and change text. For the purpose of this module when discussing and explaining word processing features the software Microsoft Office Word (*Word) will be used as the example.

Computers are helpful because they offer a wide range of functions and services that are not available anywhere else. There are four main uses: word processing, internet/communications, digital video/audio composition, and desktop publishing. Although one can create a typed paper with a typewriter, the computer has more features
From classroom activities to space flight and everything in between, computers are a vital part of daily life. Everything we do and every aspect of our life is affected by modern technology, like the computers. Computers let us dissect any sort of data. Computers make us reflect, hence we develop. Because of computers and the Internet, we can talk with individuals from diverse nations, and even see them via webcams.
