Discuss usability and maintainability in terms of navigation of Web sites. Any user that ventures unto a specific website seeks explicit information, and if that user is unable to find said information, that user is more likely to leave the site and find a site more accommodating to his/her needs. It is the function of the navigation menu to aid users in locating what material is being sought. According to Eccher (2015, p.70), usability and maintainability are two important concerns when creating the navigation menus of a website and that the menu is a key element of effective website design (Eccher, 2015, p. 70). Usability as it relates to navigation bars will be discussed below, while maintainability will be addressed not only as it applies to navigating a website, but also as it relates to keeping website current for users to able to navigate the site. Usability As indicated, usability is the ability of a user to find the information he/she seeks, process the information, and perform whatever functions as needed (Eccher, 2015, p. 7). The use of a navigation menu allows the user to peruse the website. There exist four primary pathways by which users are able to navigate a website: use of hyperlinks, streamline the navigation bar, keep sidebars separate, and include footers. This includes the copyright information for the website, the name of the website 's author, the business name and address, if applicable, and the date of the most recent update. Some Web page footers include links to other pages within the website, an email link or an RSS link. The top of the Web page contains the most valuable "real estate" on the website, so footer content is of lesser importance. The footer is coded in either CCS or HTML. Footers should be designed for the user, should consolidate the number of links, should be neat and tidy, and kept simple (Miller,

Motivation is defined as, “the reason for the action; that which gives purpose and direction to behavior.” Motivation is key in personal life as well as the career world. Motivation in the work place is highly dependent on employers being able to understand the needs and wants of their employees. When employers can understand and satisfy an employee’s needs, the employee is more inclined to perform well in his position. “The ranked order of motivating factors were: (a) interesting work, (b) good wages, (c) full appreciation of work done, (d) job security, (e) good working conditions, (f) promotions and growth in the organization, (g) feeling of being in on things, (h) personal loyalty to employees, (i) tactful discipline, and (j) sympathetic help with personal problems.” (Accel-Team) In order to achieve all or some of these key motivating factors in the work place, an employee generally will want interesting work, good wages, and recognition from superiors and peers.

Now that we are living in an ever changing world, technology is viewed as the most resourceful tool in keeping up with the pace. Without the use of technology, communication would be limited to using mail for delivery and encyclopedias for research. Although technology has improved the way we communicate and find information for research, the information is not always valid. Unfortunately, for those of us who use the internet for shopping, research, or reading articles of personal interest the information is not treated the same as a your magazine or book. While such literature is reviewed by an editorial staff, internet literature or information can be published by anyone. In order to reap the full benefit of having the use of technology for any purpose, there are five basic criteria’s one must keep in mind as an evaluating tool for deciding whether or not the particular website is a reliable source for information.
Würtz (2006) emphasized on message speed, time attitude, navigation and transparency. Hall and Hall (as cited in Würtz, 1990) defined that in a high context culture, the most of the people takes heaps of time to understand the message. (1990, p.5). The high context Asian website gives user to different types of navigation which will be appearing on top of the page and at the bottom of the page as well. Furthermore, it could be in the form of link and that would be open in new window or might be open in same window. Moreover, high context culture contains more images, graphical representation and less text compare to low context culture. Transparency is processed in such a form that is easy for users to see what actions are performed in website. In addition, sometimes a high context website gives a less transparent overview of the content compared to low context sites (p. 291).

Life today was much different from life thousands of years ago. People back then had to solve problems in order to survive, and we have to solve problems to make decisions that usually don’t affect our wellbeing. The first humans made tools to make their lives easier, but now we use technology to do things quicker and more effectively. Our society has changed drastically as a result of technology.
The most important task of developing and designing a web page is the gathering of information. You first need to brainstorm about what you would like the web page to consist of. Collect everything that you want to become part of the web page, from editorials and graphics to company information and history. It may be a good idea to get your hands on as much data as possible, and then decide what is to be used in the web page. Whatever material that you do not used may be discarded later. All information previously gathered is categorized in a hierarchy form from the most important to the least important.
