The fear in this debate is not that we do not have a weapon strong enough, but we have a weapon that is unrivaled by any other. There is only one thing nuclear weapons have been used for it is the very reason they were created. Because of there killing power it was only natural they were made for war. Nuclear weapons are a too powerful of a weapon for anyone, or any country to have access to. Safety protocols make it impossible for nuclear weapons to be harmful when not fired. Wrong! The problems with nuclear weapons start even before they are used. Just in transportation, nuclear weapons have proven to be dangerous. On several different occasions there has been accidents related to nuclear weapons even when they are not being used. In transportation of these weapons if something were to go wrong the only way to insure the safest outcome is to have the bomb blown up in the air. This has happened several instances. In the waters off of Washington, a US submarine accidentally opened a valve releasing 500 gallons of contaminated water into the ocean. In 1956 a nuclear weapon was dropped accidentally on transport. The bomb detonated upon impact on the ground. It left a crater filled with radioactivity. These are only two of dozens of accidents dating back from the 1940s to today. Then in stages of making the bombs there have been accidents, and lives lost even with these “Safety protocols”. On December 30, 1958, a chemical operator died due to radiation sickness.
