In the book “The True Diary of The Part Time Indian” by Sherman Alexie. Junior, the main character tries to tie bonds with childhood friends while discovering his confidence at a new school. He is a Native American that lives on a poor reservation, and communicates to the reader by drawing his thoughts through the book. His family consist of his sister, mother and father who worries about the trauma that he goes through at his corrupt school. Throughout these three drawings that Junior portrays to us shows how his family and friends has given him confidence and more motivated s a citizen of his community. Early in the novel, Junior includes an illustration which he shows his disabilities and the drawing is titled “ME IN ALL MY GLORY”. The first disability the a portrayed it is his large rectangle glasses. These glasses are a way of showing that he does not have the money to purchase name brand glasses like many of the white teens at Readern. Junior folds his arms just like Gordy does. He looks up to Gordy because he doesn't care about what people think about him. This shows that Junior doesn't care about the popular kids like Roger, yet he wants to have confidence like Gordy. Another observation in this image is that Gordy seems to have more expensive products that he has on. Unlike Junior, Gordy had a new haircut and an expensive part of glasses. Gordy is from a wealthier town, and he is able to afford a lot of more thing than Junior could even think of. He has a new haircut and new glasses because he probably has a mother and father that tells him right from wrong. Lastly, Junior seems to have similar items on.
