The Tragic Cliff
Everyone needs a place to escape the everyday complications of life. Life has its ups and downs and we all learn to deal with them in different ways. Some people use exercise to release stress while others find places to hide from the stress for short periods of time.
I found a place of relaxation hundreds of feet above everyone looking down. Right outside of town there is a cliff that overlooks the downtown area. There I feel as though I am above everyone and nothing could touch me. I feel comfort just knowing I can observe thousands of people below me, like looking at little ants through a microscope, yet no one can see me. Trees and bushes hover over me like a blanket giving me shelter. It's almost like playing God.
Although I haven't been to the cliff in quite a while, do to being so busy, I still remember the peace I received that I could never find. To me, the cliff was a place of memories, innocence, and free energy. In nature there aren't any rules, regulations, or right or wrong answers. It's a place of freedom!

In the document “Doomed to Perish”: George Catlin’s Depictions of the Mandan by Katheryn S. Hight, she analyzes the work of George Catlin while he traveled to the Mandan colony west of the Missouri River. Hight identifies that Catlin created a false and imaginative depiction of the Mandan Indians based on his social and political ideas which ended up creating an entertainment enterprise rather than reporting history. Catlin’s extravagant depictions of the Indians, which did have an impact on the Indian Policy in America, seemingly motivates Hight to write on this subject.
Canadians are just recently beginning to realize the detrimental aftermath of the years of trauma experienced by Indigenous peoples of Canada, such as the survivors of the residential school system. It is often difficult for these people to overcome the impact that follows. Undoubtedly, it requires help and support from others, but these people must make their personal healing journey themselves. The passages “Rock Bottom” by Steven Keewatin Sanderson and the “Legend of the Sugar Girl” by Joseph Boyden prove that although trauma can significantly undermine groups of people, they can overcome their difficulties. Both authors illustrate how trauma negatively affects characters, causes them to fall victim
Also, it can satisfy a persons stress level by focusing on the activity. Sometimes not playing sports, but just relaxing can be satisfying. Relaxing and not working can give a person time to think, breathe, and to recuperate. Relaxing is a very satisfying activity. Another activity that is satisfying is sleeping.
In Richard Russo’s Empire Falls, he tells us about the lives of the some of the residents of a dying New England mill town. Miles Roby, a lifetime resident and father that runs the local eatery, the Empire Grill, for Francine Whiting, the matriarch of Empire Falls. They have known each other for a long time. Miles’s mother, Grace Roby had an affair with C.B. Whiting the owner of the textile mill, and Mrs. Whiting’s husband. This set off a chain of events that eventually led to Francine promising to leave Miles the Empire Grill in her will.
There is a place where not far from my hometown, which, since my childhood, still holds the secrets to life. It was a place where we were free. Free to do whatever we wanted to do, say whatever we wanted to say, it was our place, our river. It was a simple place, no paved or asphalt roads for the commotion of busy traffic, no tall buildings to block out the sunlight, no sense of time to feel rushed or anxious, no effects from the outside world. It was a beach on the coast of Lake Sakakawea called “Little Egypt.”
Perhaps the only song I've ever been able to attribute as my favorite song is Kuroi Ledge by A Lot Like Birds, and it holds an immense amount of meaning to me. I discovered this song searching for new music as I always did, however there was quite a difference with this song, this band, I could listen to them for hours on end. This song not only awakened something in me, it helped me face some of my worst possible fears, but some of my worst realities as well: abandonment, suicide, and the idea of finding a certain beauty in tragedy. Kuroi Ledge, literally translates from Japanese to Black Ledge, we see the danger in this, the metaphor of a dark ledge tempting us to go further, and
...d the ability to look out on all the surrounding peaks is powerful to say the least. All you can see while standing on top is one of the best feelings of my life and the awe-inspiring awesomeness is unmatched anywhere in the world.
Overall, I enjoyed this play. Even with the dull ending, I found it to be entertaining and a good use of my time. The cast was great and they made good use of a decent
... The cliff represents losing innocence and maturing and its Holden’s purpose to catch or save the children before they fall off the cliff or lose their innocence. Since children are in a rye field and can’t always see where they are going it is Holden’s job to protect them from falling or growing up. Holden ends up realizing that it is just a dream and can’t come true. Holden is forced to come to the realization that innocence must be discarded.
As I inched my way toward the cliff, my legs were shaking uncontrollably. I could feel the coldness of the rock beneath my feet when my toes curled around the edge in one last futile attempt at survival. My heart was racing like a trapped bird, desperate to escape. Gazing down the sheer drop, I nearly fainted; my entire life flashed before my eyes. I could hear stones breaking free and fiercely tumbling down the hillside, plummeting into the dark abyss of the forbidding black water. The trees began to rapidly close in around me in a suffocating clench, and the piercing screams from my friends did little to ease the pain. The cool breeze felt like needles upon my bare skin, leaving a trail of goose bumps. The threatening mountains surrounding me seemed to grow more sinister with each passing moment, I felt myself fighting for air. The hot summer sun began to blacken while misty clouds loomed overhead. Trembling with anxiety, I shut my eyes, murmuring one last pathetic prayer. I gathered my last breath, hoping it would last a lifetime, took a step back and plun...
As I sit down in the gazebo, the wind blowing through my hair and making my arm hair lift up in goosebumps, I realized that this is the place I will call my home. The gazebo beauty speaks to me for I have a mark in my soul and body that I will never forget, and this feeling reminds me of a feeling I get when I am in church and speaking to God too. The gazebo has the Holy Spirit within her and she calls on chants to me, to comfort them, to love them and make sure they I am connected to God. The gazebo is a shelter to me when I lose myself. I am lost both spiritually and mentally, for I have been doing things that I shouldn’t be doing because I had a mindset of fulfilling my dreams of becoming a lawyer for criminal cases. For the gazebo calls me to her as if she were a mermaid who sings and lures her prey.

A gelid winter almost gone, but the weather was still cold. I went to a park with my friends which is extremely huge and magnificent. It includes a small mountain, a carnie and a small lake where people can row during the summer. First, we climbed the mountain and enjoyed the beautiful view when we stood on the top of the hill. What made me so happy is that I can see the whole city after I climbed the mountain. I can observe
What a great feeling of happiness and peace waking up in my Grandparent's huge but also old house, that grew smaller each time I got bigger. The humble pinkish house that my grandparents moved into back in the 80s. They built his dream job right next to their house in Coral Way.
