Some of the critical requirements which needed to be addressed while creating a DR Plan and Business Continuity solution are as follows: a. The DR plan document should have a list of all the assets which are critical for business continuity b. RTO – The DR plan document also need to specify the Recovery Time Objective (RTO) which is the timeline required to bring back the system back from the disaster condition to normal condition. c. Affordability – The DR plan also need to provide the resource estimates (money, manpower and infrastructure) which are required to combat disaster. d. The DR plan document should also focus on the periodic DR testing (DR Drill) which will ensure infrastructural readiness and awareness among the employees responsible to act in an event of a disaster. e. The Business continuity solution must have the steps clearly defined so that the execution of the DR plan becomes easy. The functional requirement of the disaster recovery plan had been provided by many stakeholders since these stakeholders are the beneficiary of the Business Continuity Plan and its implementation solution. Such beneficiaries who are associated with the business drivers are the existing students and potential students of OpenWorld University, employees, management team, DR Team and vendors. The next planning item was the time requirement which was mapped to the WBS (disaster recovery activities). Thus triple constraints (scope, time and cost) were formulated for the project. Last but not the least, the quality assessment and assurance activities were also planned and documented. The quality parameters were defined, as what should be the maximum timeline to execute a particular activity, what are the documents to be created and what is the information to be recorded during the activity so that the quality can be assessed.
