Stages of childhood development are imperative to the success of child’s health, and physical well-being. The stage of childhood, I have chosen to write about is from birth to the age of two. In this paper, I’ll discuss more in-depth the various changes of intellectual, physical, emotional, and many more key aspects. Along with answering other required key questions. One of the reasons, I selected this stage, was I remember the first time I’ve laid eyes on my children after my wife had given birth. I remember every moment of it, and loved it. From birth, parents can expect crying to increase to about two hours. At the six week mark, they could expect this to increase up to three hours. Luckily, when the infant is three months old, there is about an hour long sporadic crying session. Parents who instantaneously care for the baby when its crying, shown that they cried less at six to twelve months. While, parents who overlooked this, the baby cries increased over time. Parents can use a variety of techniques to help babies stop crying, these include: cuddling, rocking, given them a pacifier, and swaddling.

Childhood development is vital to understand when it comes to parenting for numerous reasons. The first is being you know what to expect from your child at certain ages. It also allows you to know if anything out the ordinary is occurring with your baby. If this occurs, you know your baby might be in distress and you can seek the proper help to solve the problem For-example if a baby has a series of more than three hours a day for more than three days a week, for three weeks, then infant has colic. When my children were born, I never read any books about parenting, I just learned as it happened. However, since this class, I wish I would have read a book about parenting. I never realized how connected children are to parent’s emotions and facial expressions. I was not aware that infants had the ability to mimic a parent’s facial expression when they are that young, nor comprehend the significance of them as being sad and/or happy. I remember my wife would get stressed out, when she know I had an upcoming deployment coming up. When I left for my deployment, when my son was a couple months old, I recalled him crying a lot more then often. But now I understand why my son behavior during that time.
