Recommended: Immigrants overcoming struggles

On Monday February 26th I decided to journey to Portland to listen to speaker Manuel Padilla as he presented his seminar “ The Space Between Us: Immigrants, Refugees and Oregon”. With immigration being such a prevalent topic in today's news, I though it intriguing to get the opportunity to learn what difficulties surround immigration. I would also hopefully gain knowledge of immigration issues not only in the nation but also for us oregonians. Located at the Portland Mercado (Portland Market) I was excited to see that the setting was not as formal as I once feared. The documentary Wetback: The Undocumented Documentary focuses on the issue from this point of view. This documentary uses pathos and logos to show the lives and hardships of those people who are trying to migrate to a new country. Although Wetback used many examples of pathos and logos to show the struggles of the migrants, Border War did a better job showing pathos by following the lives of people who were affected by the illegal immigrants they were also very persuasive with ethos by following credible people.
