It is known as a change in the chemical or physical condition of the waters. Polluting the waters is causing harmful and tragic diseases that affect many families. It is also a global problem that not only affects people but also animals and plants. Water pollution is a current issue that has serious consequences; it progresses everyday in our lakes, oceans, rivers and other bodies of water.
California is going through the worse drought it has faced in many decades. It is not just the lack of rain we received last year, but poor management of our water resources which worsen the drought. The mere idea of running out of water is not to be taken lightly, only a small amount on our planet is safe for human consumption; keeping that in mind Californians must face the necessity to rationalize water in order to cope with the concurrent crisis. The practice of rationing will help maintain water levels. The expected result of this calamity is water shortages and a major impact in the agricultural level across our entire state.
Fertilizer pollution interacts with economic and political issues, and many things must be done in order to help resolve the issue. When Fertilizers are used, the rainwater washes them, and they merge with the rain water, as they evaporate. The Fertilizer runoff then goes into the water, and causes large problems. The main problem with this is that the fertilizers will end up in places like lakes and rivers, which can be a huge problem if there is a marine ecosystem. When the fertilizers go into the water, they cause something called algae blooms, in which all the algae, will bloom and grow very fast to the top of the water.

Lake Erie has been affected by introduced species (zebra mussels) (U.S Environmental Protection Agency, 2011). Rehabilitation of a eutrophic lake can be done. Artificial aeration can be used to re-oxygenate water which prevents bacteria growth because other higher organisms can strive (Morton, 1976; Miller & Spoolman, 2009). Lake Washington, U.S.A, is an example of a rehabilitated lake. The 11 sewage discharge points into the lake were diverted to Puget Sound where tidal flushing diluted and distributed the waste over a larger area (which meant that the Puget Sound did not have the effects of eutrophication) (Wright & Boorse, 2014).
Water Benefits Health.com stated, “Forty percent of America’s rivers are too polluted for fishing, swimming or aquatic life. Much of today’s water is dealing with water pollution. Introduction The available water in India has declined drastically over the past several decades due to the rise in demand for water sources across almost every industry. This shortage has greatly affected all activity in India, including the agricultural industry and the available drinking water for domestic life. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, or the FOA, believes that India will literally run out of water if certain steps are not taken to replenish India’s aquifers. To fully grasp the matter, an explanation of the problem is below. The main cause for concern is that India’s flourishing agricultural industry uses the 91% of water throughout the country leaving aquifers at lower levels every year.
