The sociological perspective is a theoretical approach to understanding the relationship between humans and society. Within this perspective, there are three views; functionalist, conflict and symbolic Interaction. Each theory offers a different view of the world. When these three perspectives are used together, society, social forces and human behavior is easier to understand. Facebook is a good example for explaining how society operates. It is its own society in a way. A society is basically a group of people who share the same territory, have relationships with one another and share a culture. If we use the Facebook page as a territory, it is a society all its own. It is easier to see Facebook as its own society when its population is about the size of the third largest country. Facebook is the biggest social media site in the world and has over nine million active monthly users. It is hard to believe that Facebook has only been around for ten years. In those ten years it has become a very important in the lives of many people. With the use of sociological perspective, the society, social forces and the human behavior of Facebook will be able to be understood more clearly. The functionalist perspective focuses on both structure and functions. It sees society as a system of connected parts that need one another to continue moving forward. If a part of the system is not operating, to its standard the others parts assist. Every part, big or small, is important and essential to the society as a whole. While some of the parts and what they do seem problematic or unexpected, it is all needed to keep the system going. The outcomes of the system have also been split into categories: manifest functions, latent functions, latent dysfu... ... middle of paper ... ... an assumption or an association one must first know knowledge about said thing. Without language, one could not interact as well or receive knowledge needed to make assumptions and create symbols. It is an elaborate ideal that we all While both the functionalist theory and the conflict theory focus on more of a large scale of society witch has been called macrosociology, the symbolic theory dose not. It focuses on the smaller scale of human interaction. Focusing on a smaller scale of society is called microsociology. The symbolic interactionist theory looks at how peers and symbols in the environment influence how one acts and interacts acts and how that influences society instead of how society influences how a person acts.
