With a single tap of a finger or a simple mouse click, individuals across the nation are able to communicate instantly with people on the other side of the world. Over the past few years, technology has become incredibly innovative, resulting in the boom of mobile technology, like cell phones, mp3 players, and tablets, becoming more commonplace. Social media bloomed because of this new technology boom and new social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, and Twitter paved the way for new communication standards. Now, social interactions are not restricted to physical contact, allowing more communication between people at any given time. Because of the new ease to communicate at home or on the go, social media has encouraged social interactions between all walks of life.
Through the use of social media, communication has become vastly easier than just a few years ago. Instead of sending a letter through the postal service or making a phone call, a few simple strokes on the keyboard can suffice in communicating one's thoughts, feelings, or ideas to a multitude of people simultaneously. Social media platforms have made it easier for employers, teachers, and companies to communicate with their employees and students, increasing social interactions between co-workers, peers, and society in general. Since the internet is more accessible than ever, the majority of the world’s population in first-world countries that are browsing social media sites has increased dramatically and following this trend to communicate effortlessly and instantly with others is an advantage. The innovative technology available widely to the world’s population has become common place and social media is everywhere. Social media creates a community that encourages social interactions and is versatile so anyone of different backgrounds, personalities, and social habits can come together.
