Islam and Christianity have many differences and similarities; moreover, one of the main differences in both religions are the different main religious figures; Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Jesus Christ. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the main religious figure in the religion of Islam. He is known as the last of over 200 prophets that existed. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born in Mecca and a descendant of the Prophet Ismail and son of the Prophet Ibrahim (PBUT). Further, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was a very humble individual. He never ate alone as he always invited other to eat with him and he visited the poor and ill regularly. He also encouraged others to follow in his footsteps. However, majority of the differences describe the inhumane powers Jesus possessed. Jesus Christ was known as a sinless being according to Biblical record. Although Muhammad was a morally ethical human being, he did commit sin. According to the Qur’an “Then have patience (O Muhammad). Lo! the promise of Allah is true. And ask forgiveness of thy sin and hymn the praise of thy Lord at fall of night and in the early hours.”(Surah 40:55)” Another comparison between the two is their tombs. It is said that that tomb of Jesus Christ is said to be empty by some of his women followers. According to the Austrian scholar Jacob Kremer asserts “By far most exegesis hold firmly to the reliability of the biblical statements concerning the empty tomb.” Accusations say Muhammad’s body still remain in his grave but his soul forever rests in Al-Jannah (heaven). In terms of their deaths, Jesus died on the cross and Prophet Muhammad died from poisoning. Another major difference is their views on sexual sins n Surah 24:2 Mohammad says:
“The fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not pity withhold you in their case, in a punishment prescribed by Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a party of the believers witness their punishment. [This punishment is for unmarried persons guilty of the above crime (illegal sex), but if married persons commit it (illegal sex), the punishment is to stone them to death, according to Allah’s law.” In comparison, Jesus
