Knowing the warning signs of bullying can help students not think about suicide, feeling worthless, or having withdraws. Bullying is, “unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real perceived power imbalance” (Stop Bullying Association). Statistics show that each year the death rate of bullied victims increase. The Bureau of Justice School states that “46% of males followed by 26% of females have admitted to being victims in physical fights.” Bullying statistics also shows about 77% of students have admitted to being the victim of one type of bullying or another.
As the statistics keep increasing each year, it is important for parents to be aware of the signs and consequences of bullying. Parents, students, and staff should be aware of the difference between being bullied and being the bully. They should also be informed of the different types of bullying. Bullying can be done verbally, socially, and physically, according to U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. The death rates would decrease if parents and faculty were more aware of all signs of bullying. Having parents and faculty learn of the various signs of bullying could make a difference worldwide. Parents should also know who is at risk of being bullied as well as who is at risk of being the bully.
The four types of bullying include verbal, social, physical, and cyberbullying. Each type of bullying has its own characteristics. All bullying is dangerous, but some types of bullying are be more dangerous than others. For this reason, it is important to know the different characteristics of each type of bullying.

When students go to school, they always have in mind that they are going to be in a safe environment. The only way this can happen is if the teachers are aware of the signs of bullying, and offer support on how to help stop bullying. Administrators should focus on the social environment of the school. “It is important to change the climate of the school and the social norms with regard to bullying (Hazelden Foundation, 2014).” They should also check on the assess bullying at the school. Adults are not always very good at estimating the nature and extent of bullying at their school. Another good idea would be forming a group to coordinate school's bullying prevention activities. Bullying prevention efforts seem to work best if they are coordinated by a representative group from the school (Hazelden Foundation, 2014).
