It’s the 1930s and the United States of America is in turmoil. Banks are closing, the stock market has crashed and people are losing their homes and jobs. Everyone in America is suffering from the Great Depression. The Great Depression began in 1929 when the stock markets crashed; this was the beginning of ten long years of economic suffering for those in America. With many out of jobs and homes, it was time for a change to happen. With the election of Roosevelt in 1933, something new was on its way. During Roosevelt's first 100 days in office, his administration passed legislation that aimed to stabilize industrial and agricultural production, create jobs and stimulate recovery. (A&E Television Networks, 2013). As his presidency continued, he created the New Deal. The New Deal was a series of economic measures to alleviate the worst effect of the economy at the time and to regenerate the confidence of the American people.
The goal was to get America back on it feet by coming up with new ways to improve the lives of the American people. In order for the American people back on their feet Roosevelt created the New Deal, which did not have long team relief but instead had the goal of, “cash, relief, short term work relief, and expansion of employment (Kirst-Ashman, 2013)”. The New Deal established this by creating the Civilian Conservation Corps. The CCC was a program that sent males ages 18-25 to parks in the west to refurbish, learn fire control skills and more. The new deal also created a program geared toward teen males so that they could have part time jobs; this was called National Youth Administration. (Kirst-Ashman, 2013). ...ocial worker could provide service to a client that may not be needy in the since of money but are needy in other aspects of life. the government only looks at one type of needy, and they have specific requirement for those who are needy.
