The Significance of Politics.
Politic is one of the main components of human system that shape a nation and civilization. According to Oxford Dictionaries, politic is defined as “the activities associated with the governance of a country or other area, especially the debate or conflict among individuals or parties having or hoping to achieve power” and “the activities of governments concerning the political relations between countries”. Politic is homogenous, as no politic is the same as the other. Instead in general, politics all around the world assimilate several key features among them such as ruling of political party, form of government, democracy and other aspects that makes a single political system unique. Even though different rulings across the world have different form of politics, the main goal is the same: to maintain the order of systems within a nation.
The act of politics has begun in as early as the River Valley Civilizations. Political act was first shown in the civilization of Mesopotamia, 3500 BC. In this civilization, the leader of the group or also known as the ‘king’, ruled with absolute power (Pearson). However, it was later seen that with too many groups and tribes uprising had also created issues and chaos among the kings, and the civilization was always engulfed in constant conflicts. In Egypt, 3000 B.C, the political system was led by the ‘Pharaoh’, and was claimed to be a god that maintains the societal order. It was during this time that a more centralized government and dominant power of authority were initiated (Pearson). There are thousands of years of history that have taken place. History is not like art(less subjective), but there is still plenty of room for speculation, criticism, and debate among historians, professors, as well as average citizens. However, not all these moments are documented, or done successfully specifically. Some of these moments end up becoming movies, books, or even historical fiction novels, but what about those fundamental moments that aren’t readily documented? In the book The Birth of Modern Politics Lynn Hudson Parsons claims that the 1828 election was momentous in the history of both political history, as well as our nation. Parsons not only discusses the behind the scenes of the first public election of 1828, but the pivotal events in Andrew Jackson and John Quincy Adams’ lives leading up to the election as well. Parsons succeeds in proving her thesis that the 1828 election was crucial to American politics as we know it today, as well as provoking evidence from various sources with her own logic and opinions as well.
In the ancient myths from the Aegean seas, much political theory is derived. Lessons on the dangers associated with monarchical political forms are brought to light. The connection between gender and power along with violence, war and necessity raise questions to enact a democracy and depersonalize the government.
Pharaohs were governors of the Ancient Egyptian realm who broadcasted themselves as sons of gods who upheld Ma’at – the Egyptian order of life. Most pharaohs ruled in a typical and expected way carrying the beliefs of their ancestors- though not all ruled this way. Akhenaten of the 18th Dynasty New Kingdom was not an “archetypal” pharaoh as seen through his goal to change Egyptian religion from polytheism to monotheism and through his building project in Amarna. Though he used traditional means to incorporate his changes he did so in an atypical way. After all his attempts at reform all was forgotten when he died and Egypt returned to the religious beliefs it had beforehand. This essay will analyse historical evidence that demonstrates his religious changes, the significance of his building project in Amarna and the aftermath of his death.
The Oxford Dictionary gives five different definitions of the meaning of “politics.” One definition is: “activities within an organization that are aimed at improving someone’s status or position and are typically considered to be devious or divisive.” Another definition is: “a particular set of political beliefs or principles.” For a long time, politics has shaped the way that people write and think about life. Politics has been a major influence on literary works, such as Dante’s Inferno, Don Quixote, and Corinne, Or Italy, and in these works you get the chance to understand the political beliefs from the author’s point of view instead of from another character in the novel.
Conformity was very important. We can see that from how the pharaohs and kings rule there kingdom. Also, we can see it from how some governments had more power than the people and from how if the people didn’t agree with the king, they would be killed.
The ways in which we attempt to determine the history of early man say much more about who we are today, and who we will be tomorrow, and who we want to be today, and who we want to be tomorrow, than they do about who we were in the past. This statement comes from a person who knows little about science, and less about the specific scientific techniques used in archeological excavation and analysis. But it seems to me that much of the observations that are made in the study of early man are predicated as much on new theory as they are on old observation, and much of the old observation seems to be based on how humans act now, rather than in the past.

Ancient Egypt was a single tightly organized state for much of its history (Centanni, n.d.). In all its phases, the Egyptian government was led by the pharaoh. The pharaoh was held to be descended from gods, with the power to assure success and control the rituals that assured the flow of the Nile and the fertility derived from irrigation. Wanting gods to favor Egypt, the entire population of people did not hesitate to carry out laws that the pharaoh placed upon them. The early Dynastic Period was Egypt?s era of initial unification and state building under the guidelines of its first three royal dynasties. In the years between 2660 and 2180 B. C. the basic marks of the cultures of Egypt arose. Egypt was one kingdom and it was divided into provinces, or the names of provinces. Ruling over the kingdom was a pharaoh, who was not only a king but was also seen as a god. Provinces were ruled by nomarchs better known as provincial governors. The Egyptians devised themselves into classes, upper class, middle class, and a lower class. The pharaoh and his family were at the top of the Egyptian class system. People could move from one class to another depending on their situations.
The emergence of modern cognition has been fundamental in separating early humans from our primate predecessors but archaeology and anthropology has provided diverse arguments the precise moment this came to be. There have been separate claims that the modern mind could have come to be when early humans created the first stone tools, the first personal ornamentation or the first artworks. In a deeper analysis it become clearer that the first complex thought came about not from any of those single events but rather a combination of the first two scenarios mentioned as the third scenario supports the claim. The human spark cannot be identified by the development of technology alone but rather by the gradual change that occurs between the innovations of stone tools and personal ornamentation known as the Lower and Middle Palaeolithic Period.
A government was required to lead the people and aid in organizing a city. City governments were far more powerful than the council of elders and local chiefs of farming villages. At first, Priest probably had the greatest. In time, warrior kings came to power as chief political leaders. They soon set themselves up as the chief hereditary ruler and passed their power from father to son. Governments soon became more complex as rulers issued laws, collected taxes, and organizes systems of defense. To enforce order, rulers relied on royal officials. Over time, government bureaucracies evolved. Almost always rulers claimed their power came from god or divine right. These rulers then gained religious power as well.

How does one rule a country? Politics has been the basis of power for more than a thousand years now. Traces of political movements have been discovered in different parts of the world; from the birth place of civilization found in the Middle East; the Mesopotamian, from the Western region of the world; England and even South America, and from the Dynasties of China and lands of Japan, politics was already in play during these times. As time passed by, politics evolved from Monarchies to Democracies, and power has been openly up for grabs during the development of politics. A political institution is a system of politics and government. It is usually compared to the law system, economic system, cultural system, and other social systems. It is different from them, and can be generally defined on a spectrum from left, i.e. communism and socialism to the right, i.e. fascism. Linz’s argument is on the description of Totalitarian and Authoritarian Regimes, which brings the main and important argument of explaining both Presidential and Parliamentary systems. Another important author whose thoughts were referred to political institutions is Seymour Martin Lipset. His argument emphasizes on political cultural-cultural factors rather than political systems. The last individual whose main arguments refer to politics and political institutions is Donald Horowitz. He describes that Linz claims are not sustainable because it is regionally skewed and highly selective sample.
What Is Politics On hearing the word politics, what usually springs to mind are images of government, politicians and their policies or more negatively the idea of corruption and dirty tricks. The actual definition seems to have been obscured and almost lost by such representations and clichés that tend not to pinpoint the true essence, which defines this thing, called politics. In order to make an attempt at a definition of politics a systematic approach is required. To begin with, a brief historical overview will be considered, to understand the origins of politics. Following this, different core concepts, which are imperative to a definition of politics, will be discussed, in the hope to discover a true and fair interpretation of the word politics.
