I want to go home,” she whined, walking toward the car. Walter followed her, pulling out the car keys. Mrs. Mitty heard the jingle of the keys and looked back. “Oh no, you don’t! He walked over to the rock cliff and gazed below. The clear water sparkled, displaying multi-colored fish swimming. Walter stretched his arms and legs, preparing for his dive. He brought his snorkel to his nose and closed his eyes. He put his arms out and leaped. As he hit the water it splashed, causing ripples widening circles in the almost glassy-like substance. Fish hurriedly swam away, hiding behind coral. The cool water encompassed Walter. He opened his eyes. It was a beautiful sight. Rare fish swam in vast schools, dolphins danced in the water, and crabs scurried along the white sand. He swam a bit deeper down. “Professor Mitty,” emitted a voice from Walter’s waterproof communicator, ”the best scientists in the world have entrusted you with the responsibility of catching Devil’s Hole pupfish. “Got it,” he said. Mitty began his search for the pupfish. It didn’t take as long as he expected. He spotted one behind a group of clams. He pulled out the water-catching net he had. He eased his way towards the creature. It was a sparkly, deep blue color, close to the shade of sapphire. It was a extremely small fish. Walter could literally hold one in his palm, and it would be the length of his thumb. Pupfish swam with unbelievable speed, though. It was almost impossible to catch, but Walter could do it. Why else would the best scientists pick him for the job? He was now 3 feet away from his catch, his net open and ready. “Professor Mitty…” That was Walter’s assistant in the communicator again.
