Tragedy and happy endings with a touch of romance sprinkled on top. That is a great drama. Dramas are similar to cooking meat in that they have to really be flavored up and cooked just right. This movie, The Secret Life of Bees, was cooked to perfection. The best part is that it's not purely based on the romance between two people, although there are many different hints of love throughout the movie.

Then there is an instance where Zachary is taken because some people saw him go in to the movies with Lily. Like in reality, the white men played it off like it wasn't a problem. It plays a major role in the movie overall, as Lily finds she belongs with these black people.
In the movie, August explains that bees have a secret life that nobody knows about, which I believe ties into Lily and Lily's mother who's secret life was with August and her sisters. It plays into the title because they work on a bee farm, where the story takes place. August teaches Lily a lot about her mother’s past and how it affects Lily’s life now. A lot of the movie is Lily finding out a lot about her
