‘Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials’ to Earn $50 Million On Its Debut?

“Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” could become a potential box-office hit because there were some predictions that the sci-fi movie could earn $50 million on its debut.

According to pro.boxoffice.com, the sci-fi movie indeed has a great chance of reaching the lofty opening mark because of its high level of “Definite Interest.” In the said category, “The Scorch Trials” gained a score of 52 percent interest from polled fans. In terms of fan awareness, the sequel film also tallied a high score of 73 percent total awareness and 4 percent unaided awareness. These scores were almost identical to the results of another sci-fi movie, “The Divergent Series: Insurgent,” which gained $285 million in gross revenue.

However the distinction of having the most successful September debut still belongs to the 1998 movie titled “Rush Hour” with a modern value of $57 million.

Meanwhile, “The Scorch Trials” will feature a new adventure for Thomas (Dylan O’Brien), Teresa (Kaya Scodelario) and the rest of the Gladers as they explore a dangerous world after escaping from the large maze. The teenage group will also try to stop the dark plans of the WCKD group while trying to survive in the desolate world.

Another threat for the Gladers is Janson (Aiden Gillen), the main antagonist for the next movie though it remains to be seen how this character will affect the protagonists.

After “The Scorch Trials,” the third installment of the movie series titled “Maze Runner: The Death Cure” will be released. Movie producers hinted that the third installment will be featuring a time skip.
