Have you ever wondered what you say to the world ? Or how people view you ? It’s normal to wonder what you say to the world, you can make a good impression or an bad impression on the world . People will always look at how you dress, how you look, where you come from and how you talk . There will always be somebody that will judge you in life without knowing who you are personally yet ,it’s a sad reality but that’s just life . For example, status presents itself everywhere in the world . Especially in the novel, The Skin I’m In by Sharon Flake . In this novel, status has an very big impact on the characters. In the novel one of the main characters Maleeka is affected by status because she’s trying so hard to be acceptable to people. In this novel she also gets bullied because of skin color, and also because she is too “skinny” and also too smart. The reason she felt the need to change herself was because she got bullied by another character in the book who’s name is john-john. He made up a song about her being the skin color she is . In addition not only does status play a role in Sharon Flake’s novel, it connects to the rest of the world . …show more content…

Status affects many people of the world because many people often try to be like others, and get like others it’s okay to be inspired by others but it’s not okay to try and be like others . On often occasions people want to stand up to a social standard’s by any means possible . A world connection to status is the news and what’s going on with black people around the world . For example, if a black man walks outside he has to dress/talk a certain way to be accepted
