Federalism is a concept that has shaped the course of the United States’ government. The only problem is that there are two powers, the state government and the national government, competing for power. This idea has led to the discussion as which level of government should hold more power? In order to form an opinion on whether the state or the national government should have more power, one must first determine what federalism is and how it has impacted the government of the United States. Federalism is a concept in which the national and state levels of government divide the power of the entire governmental structure.
