When the Industrial Revolution first came to the United States, there were high demands in labor. The rural farm families quickly moved to the small towns to find work. This caused small towns to become larger cities. Due to the rise of available jobs child labor grew in these cities.
Child labor has been common all throughout history, children were being used as servants and apprentices. Child labor reached it’s worse during the American Industrial Revolution. Children would work in very unsafe conditions in factories and mines. They worked long hours and had little to no pay.
