Video game addictions does exist, in 2007 a study was conducted and found that almost 12 percent of participants in a 7,000 person study study were diagnosed as addicted to video games. If this trend reflects numbers in greater populations we can be in a deep hole. Video games can be played at all ages causing a greater population of gamers, this leads to more and more people becoming addicted making the world of gaming hard to maintain. Despite video games being entertaining to play and a great way to build relationships, video games are addicting because they cause long-term physical health complications and eventually having trouble being social and engaging in the real world

Psychology plays a big role in video game addiction,it tells us what causing addiction and mental side of becoming addicted. A reward system governs the how our brain feels when we do something weather it be a chore,a job,and really anything that results in a rewarded. This comes into video games by giving us that feeling of rewarded whenever we accomplish a task in the game, we expect to always get a reward out of something. The American Psychiatric Association’s DSM-5, a manual that classifies mental disorders, list internet Gaming Disorder as “ a condition warranting more clinical research and experience before it might be considered for inclusion in the main book as a formal disorder.” Gentile says games are so compelling because they satisfy an “ABC” of human needs. ABC stands for, the A is “Autonomy, we feel like we 're in control. B is belonging, feel connected to other people. And C is competence, we like to feel that we’re good at what we do,” he says.

...hat 's why I think companies who make gaming system need to put a time limit on how long we can play a week or for a day. Not only will this tremendously cut the numbers down it will help there health issues and social. The other side of the story says video games are not addicting because it 's just a hobby, it 's like saying i 'm addicted to soccer. I would love to be addicted to soccer I would be in to shape and maybe taking my skills to play on higher level. Sure, there 's tournaments for video games and much more but you can 't turn that hobby into a living. You can 't tell me video games are not addicting, it all adds up the symptoms, the health problems and social problems, there 's so many different types of addiction it may not look like a person that 's addicted to heroin but take their gaming system away for a month and tell me they won 't go crazy.
