The right to free speech is the cornerstone, the vital element which makes a leading path to other fundamental rights. It is one of the most precious rights we, as citizens of the world, have. This right gives people the opportunity to speak out their mind. Voltaire said, “I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” Language and communication are essential to the existence of humankind, and for millennia people have exchanged ideas with each-other. This has made us stronger in the sense that we always gather together when misfortune happens, we interchange thoughts and opinions, and as a result we are stronger to handle calamities we encounter. The human, being of the cleverest creatures, developed a set of rights and practices for his fellow to follow, restricting sundry accesses, and confining certain functions. Supporting this idea, Danish philosopher and religious thinker Soren Kierkegaard once said, “People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid.” This concept links the idea that a person is given or born with the ability to say anything; however he or she does not always have something of importance to say. Freedom of speech can be discussed from multiple viewpoints or perspectives. One of these aspects can be seen as beneficial and encompasses a stunning area of possibility, which includes the rudimentary existence of democracy as well as human dignity.
