The Revolutionary Impact of the iPad The December 2010 edition of ‘Men’s Health’ magazine declares the iPad as the #1 tech item to acquire, the article notes that tablet computing is altering the way we connect, work and entertain. The final line reflects the obscure by noting the real winner in 2011 is Us, as the thrilling reality of an “always on” future finally unveils itself. (Apple iPad, 2010) It is not surprising that technology has continued to develop and that the concept of a tablet, namely the “iPad”, has come about, but that because it’s introduction and availability to the general public – across the world, has created such a synergizing effect almost creating a level of what some might consider ‘Technological Culture Shock’. The ‘First on the Block’ programming applications being developed are being gobbled up and utilized by the public in their everyday lives in all aspects. In every category you can think of, all types of media entertainment, on the spot referencing or interaction for shopping, work or play. The rush to generate programs and find new uses for the iPad could almost be considered intense. There is not a day goes by without dozens of new applications being released, many of them are free to the user as a trial or lite version just to get the iPad user to try it. Newspapers and magazines are constantly publishing articles about new ideas and concepts utilizing the iPad. In fact, some consider it may have the same impact on society today as the Guttenberg printing press did over 500 hundred years ago.
