Recommended: Impacts of the Renaissance

The way we live today, was not how the world lived years ago. There were many different time periods that tried many different ways of living; many failed. The Renaissance, which also means rebirth, went on from the 14th to the 17th century. A connection the people of the modern life to the renaissance is the motivation; money, fame, and power. Aspects of the Renaissance time period helped shape a lot of art, literature, and technology we have today. It originated in Florence, Italy and soon spread throughout western Europe. The Renaissance is widely known for the innovation of new technology and ideas. The way we do things today are measure by what tools we have to help us. It is not limited to just painting and sculptures, but architecture and many other forms as well. The Italian Renaissance time period was a very crucial part of art history. Many famous artists that many people, even those who are not find of art, known of were around during this time period. Divided into two parts, early and high renaissance, each part had it’s own contribution to the advancement of art. The early part of the time period was used for experimenting different techniques and production and was mainly in Florence. Later on, during the high period, the techniques that were effective moved to Rome and Milan. Leonardo Di Vinci was, and still is, a very known artist. Di Vinci created many beautiful paintings. His most famous painting, Last Supper was created between 1485-1498. He used oil, tempera, and varnish on plaster. Another great artist of this time period, was Filippo Brunelleschi. Brunelleschi was an architect, sculptor, and theorist who revived the classical architecture. He also invented a the first laws of a technique we still use today called one point perspective, or linear. He was the one who said that all parallel lines in a drawing/painting should meet at a vanishing point. Since then there have been more perspectives discovered, like two and three pint perspectives. The buildings and skyscrapers today look totally different that what was there years ago. Each culture also had it’s own specialty when it came to architecture; Taking a long look at the way the modern world works is very fascinating. Major parts of daily lives were once used by people who lived hundreds of years before us. Many contributions have been made by many time periods. The Renaissance has changed not only the technology we use but, the art we see and what we read and write. Without the renaissance a lot of the advancements that have been made might not have existed. Many building and such are still around in Europe. They’ve been around for so many years and are still appreciated and fascinating. Although the style and the looks of architecture might have changed a lot of the techniques remain the same. Aliberti believed that proportion in architecture mattered just as much as aesthetic. Proportions make a building very strong, sturdy, and durable if done properly while building. Brunelleschi created lifting machines to help build tall buildings to make it easier and faster to create. He created ways to life up cranes and such. Today, we use many vehicles to enhance building

    Though the Renaissance era included all of Europe, Italy was the cradle of the movement. The cities of Florence, Rome and Venice were of great importance to this period. Major artists created art mainly in these three. As the center of Italy, Rome held the residence of the Pope and many other important factors. Julius, because of his adaptions to humanistic thoughts, he let Michelangelo express himself to the fullest, even when forcing him to paint the Sistine Chapel. Leo X, however, was very critical of everything Michelangelo set out upon. This resulted a strained relationship, and eventually abandonment of projects that were supposed to be completed.
