The Reigning Queen What does it take to be a queen and what did it take to be a queen in the 19th century? The definition of a queen is a widow of a king, a women sovereign, something having eminence or supremacy in a given domain and personified as a woman (Mifflin Company, 2000). A woman that has taken a part of the line of royalty from her husband and family, these women are people of power and total control. A queen that sits on her thrown with respect from the kingdom, these women is more than just the average first lady; she is the head and not the tale. Queens are usually found in a monarchy where kings, queens, prince, and princess rule. A monarchy isn’t run completely by the queen or king but they do have a say so. Queen Victoria had control of politics but it was limited. She was more a popular figure than a politician. This queen was a widow and a mother she was a queen that may not have been the most perfect royal head. When the thought of queens come to mind, we think of beautiful women with large amounts of money we think that they don’t have to do anything but have people bow down to them. Queen Victoria was different and she changed the way a queen was seen. Queen is one of the most popular queens. Two hundred years ago, during the reign of Queen Victoria in England, the social barriers of the Victorian class system firmly defined the roles of women. The families of Victorian England were divided into four distinct classes: the Nobility or Gentry Class, the Middle Class, the Upper Working Class, and lastly, the Lower Working class .
