“The Redemption Series” by Karen Kingsbury is a five book series about the fictional family, The Baxter’s. Throughout each novel in the series Kingsbury introduces new characters and realistic trials that come about. The Baxter Family, in “The Redemption Series”, is headed by the parents John and Elizabeth Baxter based out of the small town of Bloomington, Indiana. John and Elizabeth have five children who, in each novel, are the main characters at some point. The children are Brooke, Kari, Ashley, Luke, and Erin. Each Baxter child has a novel directed towards them that describes the struggle that they personally encountered in their adult life and how having a strong family and strong faith allows them to survive. From Kari Baxter’s husband having an affair with a college student to his murder, and Luke Baxter completely dropping his faith and running away from home after losing his role model in 9/11; the reader becomes attached to the characters and feels the struggle of the character as their own. Kingsbury hooks the reader to continue reading until the end. “The Redemption Series” by Karen Kingsbury depicts a strong picture of what love, hope, and a strong faith should look like in a household.
The characters in “The Redemption Series” are a realistic family who develop closer relationships throughout the series when tested with rough times. For example, the younger daughter Ashley runs off to Paris when she was in her early adult years and doesn’t speak to her family for a whole year. The Baxter family home in Indiana has no idea where she is or how she is doing until she returns home one day and she’s pregnant. ... the series of novels. A well written surprise ending has the reader on the edge of their seat. Kingsbury plots for the series to come after the is titled “The Firstborn Series”. Anyone looking for a series about remembering how to have faith in the Lord, The Redemption series is a great bet.
