The Red Pyramid, by Rick Riordan talks about two siblings, Carter and Sadie Kane, who lives apart from each other. On one of their infrequent visitations, the two siblings take a trip to the British Museum in London with their Egyptologist father, Julius Kane. In that place, he blows up the Rosetta Stone, thus releasing five imprisoned ancient Egyptian gods: Isis, Osiris, Horus, Set, and Nephthys. Set, generally known to be a God for chaos and destruction, imprisons Julius in a tomb.

Sadie and Carter's uncle, Amos, comes in and brings the kids to New York, in order to reveal that they came from a line of ancient Egyptian magicians. However, Amos disappears while gathering some information on Set's wicked plans. As a result, the god revolves …show more content…

They battle various demons while gathering the ingredients for a ritual to defeat Set.

In Phoenix, Zia joins Carter and Sadie, despite the fact that magicians and gods are not supposed to conciliate. Through their rough adventure, the kids learn that Set is only a mere puppet who is being controlled by Apophis, a god who brings only chaos. The kids battle Set, and let their father fully merge with Osiris, the God of the dead and the living.

The magicians of the House of Life, who had been battling Set, are close to destroying Sadie and Carter for being godlings. However their leader, Desjardins, lets Sadie and Carter go with a warning after they consciously choose independence from Isis and Horus instead of letting them continue to rule them and use their bodies. So the book ends with a compromise: Sadie and Carter have refused the limitless power that Isis and Horus could offer them, deciding instead to learn how to be magicians before getting back with the gods. Sadie and Carter decide to find others like them, and with Bast's help, they attempt to learn the way of the ancient gods
