Social networking sites are various websites created to allow people to make profiles and form relationships with other users within the same website. In the website, people express their thoughts and feelings, have public discussions, chat privately, and expand their ideas, or creativity. Political views and friendships are also influenced on the web. It is a major important part of today’s society. Many critics have different sensitive views on the importance of social networking sites. Carl Bialik focus on the principle behind the creation of social networking sites. Julia Angwin expresses the way social networking sites affect the identity of each individual. The Commissioner of Canada adds to Angwin’s ideas of identity, and they express how ideas become property. In addition, Neal Conan elaborates on the effect of reconnecting with a friend, the security of people in regards to the way people feel safe behind a screen, and the law’s role on this insecurity. These issues open a door on the subject of freedom. How have social networking sites affect the freedom of each individual? RiP! A Remix Manifesto directed by Brett Gaylor touches on the freedom of creativity and ideas. Although social networking sites intended to help sustain friendships, the danger of these sites challenge the way people perceive identity through changes of privacy online.

Friendship is a strong bond between two people who can last a lifetime, or eternity. A friendship is having a person that is supportive, that is present during countless trials in your life, that values you as a person, and that never turns their back on this bond.
