Before I start explaining globalization and localization from my point of view and from what I learned from the article given for the assignment, I would like to define the word.
Globalization is a term to denote that "something" is changing humankind’s preoccupation with territoriality and the traditional arrangement of the state system. Globalization is renders boundaries and identity with the land less salient, which means that it allows people, goods, information, norms, practices, and institutions to move about oblivious to or despite boundaries. It also indicates that something new in the world affairs moves most of the important activities and concerns beyond the national seats of power that have long served as the foundations of economic, political, and social life.
Meanwhile, localization is highlighting borders and intensifying the deep attachments to a place that has potential dominate emotion and reasoning. It is a boundary heightening which inhibit or prevent the movement of people, goods, information, norms, practices, and institutions.
The definitions and explanations of globalization and localization above show the difference between the two of those. They also show the disadvantages and advantages of them. Globalization opens people mind towards the new modern world that lets the opportunity for people's, culture, activities, norms, ideas, services, and currencies to be more modernize. Diplomatically, globalization creates an interaction between countries, or in other words it facilitates the expansion of authority, policies, and interests beyond existing socially constructed territorial boundaries. Economically speaking, globalization contains the enlargement of the operation of production, trade, and in...

The relative importance of the costs and benefits discussed, some of the things that are gained by globalization fundamentally is important to people’s lives. So, this means that not everyone is able to accept that globalization knowing they still keep their traditional live, and some people even combine that in order to get what is best for them. For me, what you gain from globalization and localization are important because by gaining both you’d get what’s the best for you. For example of my own, as I come from the East Asia, tradition (localization) is still important in the family but as globalization takes place these days, it is my responsibility to get what I think is good for me.
Globalization means different things to different people, so there is no one set definition. It is generally considered to be the spread of cultural, religious, political and economical systems, and symbolizes an increase of global communication, flow of ideas, and transfer of knowledge. Is also the spread of capitalism and Westernization. Globalization creates new opportunities and benefits, yet it can also bring suffering. Each region of the world—within continents, countries, and towns—experiences globalization in a different way. While one country may experience prosperity another may experience marginalization and impoverishment. This is because access of power is selectively given to certain groups. Globalization tends to produce success for the powerful at the expense of the
Globalisation refers to the changes in the way nations, regions, organisations, groups and individuals interact across national borders (Rondinelli and Behrman, 2000). It is an ongoing process that gradually eliminates national and regional preferences and ultimately turns the world into a single market place (Levitt, 1983) through international trade in goods and services, cross-border flows of capital and exchange of technology (Nunnenkamp et al, 1994)
Globalization is defined as moving towards a world in which barriers to cross-border trade and investment are declining; distance is shrinking due to new advance in transportation and telecommunications technology, material culture is starting to look similar the world over; national economies are merging into an interdependent, integrated global economic system (Hill). The word itself. “globalize”, appeared in the 1960s meaning to “make global in scope or application”.
Globalization is the concept through which regional markets join in using a universal network to improve governmental ideas via communication, transport and trade. The concept is closely related to that of economic globalization which integrates national economies into the international economy. Such integration is achieved by trade, foreign direct investment, capital flows, and migration. Bhagwati (2004) observes that at a higher level it can incorporate the spread of technology and military presence. The ideology bears its continuity to economic, technological, socio-cultural, political and biological factors to a larger extent as Sheila (2004) points it out.
Globalization is also a term that is often misused interchangeably with other terms such as world society, globalism, universalism, and interdependence because many people believe that they all have the same basic and essential meaning. Localization, another important term also commonly misused due to the lack of clarity in it’s definition, mainly focuses on individuals and groups that narrow their horizons due to pressure and therefore participate in different forms of behavior in comparison to other groups. In this paper, the main issue of discussion will focus on the significance, cost and benefits, and basic definition of globalization and localization, as well as fragmegration (an integration of the two dynamics, globalization and localization). Finally, this paper will also discuss how these terms relate to and affect real life situations such as the Asian economic crisis.
Globalization is a lexicon of many definitions and characterizations. “Globalization is a complicated process of various “political, economic and cultural flows” among the global, the national, and the local, and therefore may not make everybody equally happy” (Berry, Liscutin, and Mackintosh 103). This belief is due to Polish sociologist, Zygmunt Bauman and is a definition that many tend to agree with. Globalization is something that connects many cultures together with the link of cultural or economic influence. The nations of the world are increasingly being interconnected each and everyday. At the supermarket, an individual can find many ethnic cuisines within reach. The ability to buy products from around th...
There are so many more advantages and disadvantages to globalization. Globalization while not perfect does offer positive benefits such as improving global economy by providing employment opportunities for under-developed and poor countries. It also provides opportunities for producers by making a profit and the consumer being able to purchase a wide variety of products. Unity is what brings this world together and while globalization is not the perfect system, like it or not, it has already affected the world globally, which is why I feel strongly that globalization is positive for the
Globalization is a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies and governments of different nations. Globalization not only has effects on the economy, but also the political systems, environment, culture and law. Globalization can help to expand a company's market. Expanding the market where an organization does business and promotes its products opens up a larger customer base and possibly greater profit margins. Globalization requires the understanding of cross cultures, multinational corporations’ interactions, global perspective and
Globalization is defined as “the historical process involving a fundamental shift or transformation in the spatial scale of human social organization that links distant communities and expands the reach of power relations across regions and continents (Baylis, 2014).”
Globalization refers to the rapid changes in the world where the countries moving away from self sustained countries towards a more integrated or interrelated world. It is also can be defined as the change in business from a company associated with a single country to one that operates in various or multi countries.
Globalization refers to the absence of barriers that every country had. Yes, it has helped to demolish the walls that separated us .Globalization, which is the process of growing interdependence among every country in this planet, can be seen as a sign of hopeful and better future by some, but for others it represents a huge disaster for the whole world. That’s why we are going to see the negative effect that globalization has on culture then focus on the ethical disadvantage it brought, to finally talk about the damage it did to skilled workers.
Globalization is can also defined as the extension of social relations across world-space, defining that world-space in terms of the historically variable ways that it has been practised and socially
Globalization is the connection of different parts of the world. Globalization results in the expansion of international, cultural, economic, and political activities. As people, ideas, knowledge, and goods move easily around the globe, the experiences of people around the world become more similar. (“Definition of Globalization“, n.d., ¶ 1)
Globalization is an overwhelming trend. It is no doubt that there are many positives rise out of globalization, but equally some serious negatives brought from this trend, such as gradual disappearance of ethnic identity (Buckley, 1998). This essay is going to address some positive effects of globalization generally, and then it will focus on impacts of this trend on developing countries.
Globalization is one of the main aspects in the 21st century. Globalization has brought the world closer; all the things that are happening nowadays are recognized globally even if they happened locally (Buckley). According to Nayef Al-Rodhan GCSP (Geneva Centre for Security Policy) globalization is not a single word or concept. It contains many other concepts within itself. Globalization is composed of different concepts like incorporation regarding the economics, transmitting information or understandings, stability within beliefs, and other concepts (Al-Rodhan p.3). This paper deals with the definition of Globalization, the advantages and disadvantages of globalization, and based on these information the views that to which extend the globalization is beneficial for majority of the world's population. The concept of globalization has changed the whole shape of the world. It has both its positive and negative impacts on people's life. However, by taking both the advantages and disadvantages into consideration we can find that to a large extend globalization is beneficial for majority of the world's population. With the help of globalization the works that were difficult in past is getting easier in today's environment. People are getting closer to each other, which is a product of globalization. Moreover, the knowledge and informations are being circulated in very good way which is a very good sign for having a good and prosperous life.
