How this many undocumented immigrants live here is a little hazy because of our rigorous laws. There are two different types of illegal immigrants and knowing these two distinctively different types of illegal immigrants is of great importance. The first, are immigrants that travel to our country legally with a visa or green card but stay as their visas become expired. The other illegal immigrant is when a person illegally trespasses our border without asking for permission from the government and lives here. The first type of Immigrants are much easier to track and incarcerate because of the fact that the government already knows that they are in the country.
Firstly, the question of definition of the word “illegal” comes up. The term “illegal” describes as an action” and that it is not an appropriate label to describe a human being. Many sources such as the associated press explained for not using the term “Illegal Immigrant”. Stating, “The Use of “illegal” should only be referred to an action, not a person or a group for example, illegal immigration, but not illegal immigrant.” Secondly, is the media’s explanation of the term “illegal immigrant. Entertainment still uses the term “illegal immigrant”.
There are two category’s in today’s society Those who oppose illegal immigration and want the immigrants to be forced back to their originating countries. Those who oppose illegal immigration but would prefer that illegal immigrants that reside within the United States are granted citizenship options. There are obviously quite a number of people that are opposed to illegal immigration. Almost all of us can say we are children of immigrants Many immigrants risk their lives to reach the United States so that they may provide their families a better life. Some immigration supporters also feel that the risks the immigrants take to get here are far too great.
There are more than 12 million immigrants in the United States, to try to deport all of them is an idea that many see as impractical and impossible (Pawlick, Finley). Seeing as immigration is not a problem that can be solved by deportation, allowing these immigrants to obtain a citizenship is the best way to insure their future as well as native-born citizens. Immigration has always been a very controversial topic, however it is a responsibility as educated Americans to see that these “illegal aliens” serve the country more when granted citizenship. Many of these hard working immigrants, both legal and illegal, pay taxes, and contribute to programs such as social security ( Immigration Policy). Yet, there are many immigrants who cannot live their lives freely due to fear of being caught.
As a society, we are unaware of what the word illegal means, the only thing we do is just throwing ideas out there. “As a result, ‘illegal,’ when used as a noun, always means immigrants—people whose only crime is the victimless pursuit of liberty and prosperity” (Toobin, 2). Because the term illegal doesn’t describe the situation of these people Jeffrey Toobin feels he needs to expand a little bit more about why using the term illegal isn’t appropriate. “The problem of the family in my piece is not simply that it lacks a document, like an American who, say, is kept from voting because he or she lacks a driver’s license or other photo I.D. The problem is that the law currently forbids the family from living in the United States.
Genetic Crosses Features of inheritance What influences you? Two influences make you what you are at this moment: heredity and environment. Heredity is the set of characteristics that you inherited from parents. Environment is the set of factors that have acted on you throughout your life. Sometimes it is difficult to determine where the influences of heredity end and environmental influences begin.
On the other hand, the conservative viewpoint towards the issue of illegal immigration is the opposite. Conservatives are against granting amnesty for illegal, undocumented immigrants. Conservatives also believe that illegal immigrants who break the law should not have the same rights as legal citizens who abide by the law, as well as increasing the need for border security to reduce illegal immigration issues (Conservative vs. Liberal Beliefs). In order to resolve this national issue of illegal immigration, these two parties must find some sort of common ground. Security must be enforced to keep terrorist and known criminals out of the country.
Immigration reform has been one of the “hot” topics that have been consistently at the forefront of many American discussions. At this time, there are more illegal immigrants in our country than legal immigrants. This is a major controversy in the realm of other social policies. Illegal immigration, or undocumented immigrants, refers to foreign people entering the United States without government permission or violating the immigration law. This is typically done by sneaking into the country or staying beyond the allotted time frame.
They broke the law and should be punished not rewarded. Illegal immigration has caused a burden on the United States and illegal immigrants should not be granted amnesty. Although some people may have their reasoning behind coming to this country, unless they come through with the proper procedure then it is illegal. Illegal aliens need to be held responsible for their actions. In order to make this a better country and lower the national debt a few procedures must be followed.
No matter what the reason is, they can't afford to lose their job or be deported back to their own country. Most of these illegal immigrants are carrying too much weight on their shoulders. Most problems are not big deals comparing to lose a job, because they believe that as long as they can keep their jobs for living in this country, there is a hope to become legal one day. Illegal immigrants victims are invisible, because they are not aware of their situation, they don't know to get help or they are afraid to be fired and deported. No matter what reasons are causing them invisible, one thing we know for sure is that these reasons are giving other people opportunities to hurt illegal immigrants.
