With the holidays approaching, many young couples look into getting their better half a puppy for Christmas. But what they do not know is that puppy could have been bred in one of the most inhumane ways. Puppy mills are all over the United States, and the government has turned their cheeks to the horrors behind those barn doors.
Dogs are put in small crates often filled with their own feces. Pups are not bathed regularly with no veterinary attention so this often leads to infection, and they are bred at every opportunity with little to no recovery time in between. If they can no longer breed, they get killed. Puppies get taken from their mothers at the first opportunity and sold, unless it has a defect then it gets killed.

Make sure to research upcoming elections and see what candidates ' views on breeding regulations and puppy mills are. Electing officials that will help ban puppy mills and put stricter breeding regulations on dog breeders will help differentiate between people who want to exploit animals for profit, and people who want to enrich the lives of others with a companion.
Not only should you support lawmakers, but also educate people who don’t know about the scandalous conditions these puppies endure. A large majority of people are oblivious that puppy mills exist. Informing the community of the horrors of puppy mills will increase the chances they will get shut
