According to (PowerPoint), human trafficking is an “is a crime and a human rights violation. It involves the recruitment, movement and exploitation of a person. The initial consent by a person will be irrelevant if it was obtained by means of fraud, deception or coercion” (cite). There are about 27 million or more of women, men and children being targeted by traffickers each year. Human trafficking is all around the world where victims are being transported to different part of the world or being forced into exploitation. There are many types of human trafficking but the most common ones are forced labour, child trafficking and sex trafficking. This is one of the many types of human trafficking, where victims are being forced into slaves working for little a day. Victims of forced labour tend to experience “permanent physical and psychological harm, isolation from families and communities, reduced opportunities for personal development, and restricted movement” (cite). Victims who come from different parts of the world, with little information of what they will be doing, believe they are going to live a better life. According to (cite), there are about 21 million people who are victims of forced labour where from that 19 million is exploited by private individuals or enterprise and the other 2 million are by state or rebel groups (cite). Debt bondage is a big factor in forced labour because this is where a “person is forced to work to pay off a debt or loan” (cite). According to (facts of sex), sex trafficking “is forced prostitution, or human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation” (cite). This includes prostitution, pornography and sexual performance done in exchange for any item of value, such as money, drugs, shelter, food or cloths (cite). This happens when “victims fall prey to a trafficker through the promise of romantic relationship, a better life, or a false job offer” (cite). Traffickers use many ways to capture victims especially women and young girls because they use them to get something at the end such as money. Sex trafficking may be easy for some people but for the victims they suffer from various of health issues such as “depression, suicidal thoughts and attempts, and physical injuries such as bruises, broken bones, head wounds, stab wounds, mouth and teeth injuries and even death” (cite). Victims of sex trafficking are at a high risk of “sexually transmitted infections” such as HIV (cite). Women involved are likely to get pregnant, so they end up getting an abortion but since they cannot seek health care, this leads them with health problems.
