The Guns Are Not The Problem
“A free people ought to be armed.”- George Washington
After the tragic incident at Sandy Hook many were for the banning of firearms in the US; however, after our government has enforced gun safety laws shootings continue to occur. Guns have existed in the United States for a very long time and have affected the course of history. We the people of the United States have the right to bear arms. Our leaders believe that removing them from the country will lead to a better and safer country; however, I am here to tell you otherwise. In conclusion, banning guns in the US will not lead to a safer country because it will not keep guns away from criminals, it will hurt safe gun users, and may leave citizens at the hands of a tyrannical government. The right to bear arms has been intact for over 200 years and should not be taken from us now. Guns are all around and could be stolen by a criminal even if they are banned. People who use guns correctly will be punished for doing nothing wrong, and tyrannical governments have usually begun after gun control was put into effect in other countries. Banning guns from the US is a terrible idea; even though it might seem like a good idea it will not do anything to prevent criminals from doing what they want to do. Banning guns will never help us and it never has.
