Gun control refers to the laws, background checks, and more protections against mentally ill individuals purchasing firearms. Some of the population believes that gun control should be strengthened, while the others are against it. There have been many situations in which firearms were used to harm innocent people, but gun control is not the solution to the problem we face as a nation.
The 2nd amendment allows U.S. citizens to have the right to bear arms. People have taken advantage of the 2nd amendment and have spun out of control. This uncontrollable action brought upon gun control laws. There are two main questions that always seem to be brought up when in a debate on gun control laws. Do guns necessarily lead to crime? And if so, can laws that place restrictions on firearm ownership and the use of firearms stop the crime or protect our citizens?

Violence related to guns is a prominent issue in America. Guns are a means to an end; meaning guns have played a strong role in suicides, murders, and injuries. In the past decade there has been an average of 400-500 thousand incidents of firearms per year (Gun Violence). The number of injured people from firearm incidents in the United States per year for the past decade is 400-600 thousand people (Gun Violence). These statistics are absolutely shocking to anyone. The amount of violence and crime that comes from guns is enormous. It is imperative that proper gun control is put into place by means of background checks and proper training.
