The Pros And Cons Of Fracking

The earliest oil wells were operated by striking, consecutively dropping and raising a cable tool into the earth. An oil well is made to take petroleum and hydrocarbons to the surface by drilling into the earth’s surface. This method didn’t get much penetration into the earth’s crust, so the drillers had to constantly drill in different spots. Through several decades the methods were enhanced and many technologies got built stronger in order to extract more oil from wells. There are four major oil development processes such as exploration, well development, production and site abandonment. (Basic process…) Exploration has to do with the search for rock formations related with oil deposits, and involves surveying of minerals. Well development…show more content…
(Oil Shale…) Fracking is done by drilling a hole into the earth. Water, sand and chemicals are injected into the rock at high force, so it causes gas to flow out of the top of the well. Fracking has revealed clean energy in America for over 60 years. In this current year of 2015 the United States could become the world’s biggest oil producer. That would mean more money for the economy because other countries that lack oil would attempt to buy from the U.S. As an emerging fuel foundation the making and treating cost for oil shale are high due to the small nature of the projects and technology that is involved. Big investments must be made in order to develop oil shale. The businesses that made the investment could possibly lose money if the oil price drops and the cost to produce the oil would surpass the price they could gain for the oil. The production rate of shale oil arrays from as high as US$95 to as low as US$25 per…show more content…
It provides jobs for 1.4 million people, which is a whole lot more then what the people from the outside expected. Having more workers help create more energy. Domestic energy production would be increased by 50%, this sounds wonderful but there are rules and regulations that must be past. The farmers who own their own production land for producing milk from cows, have a lot of oil underneath their land. Even though the farmers have a lot of oil that could be extracted from their land, they want to make sure that the process is done correctly. The cows on the farm needs to drink fresh uncontaminated water so that the milk they produce goes out healthy for the general public. Environmentalist also protest against the production of oil because they believe it only makes Global Warming worse. Extracting oil from the earth improperly can cause more greenhouse gases. There are many current energy uses in the world. Drilling for oil has been around for more than a hundred years. It has provided many jobs and many energy benefits around the world. Drilling for oil hasn’t been a cheap process but it has been the best method for energy over decades. All the oil companies need to do first is sit down and come up with the best method to build there drilling system in a positive way. Drilling for oil can and will be the most effective way to produce
