Exercise Why is America the largest statistical rated country with obesity and health problems? Why has the diabetic rate elevated more than what it is been the last couple of years? The answer is the lack of physical movement, also called exercise. Because of the lack of exercise, people choose to eat on the go, which ultimately causes the body to adapt to this type of life style. Unfortunately, this causes long-term effects such as diseases, obesity, and even death. Three effects can happen due to the lack of exercise: diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and premature death. “Diabetes, often referred to doctors as diabetes mellitus, describes a group of metallic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body’s cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both.” (Medical News Today). There are two types of diabetes: type 1and type 2. Type 1 diabetes is not as common as type 2. Patients with type 1 diabetes will need to take insulin injections for the rest of their life. They must also ensure proper blood-glucose levels by carrying out regular blood tests and following a special diet. Type 2 diabetes develops when “the body does not produce enough insulin for proper function, or the cells in the body do not react to insulin, which is called insulin resistance…type 2 diabetes is typically a progressive disease – it gradually gets worse – and the patient will probably end up having to take insulin, usually in tablet form” (Medical News…show more content…
Cardiovascular disease affects the blood flow throughout the body. “Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the U.S” (WebMD). Two of the most numerous types of diseases are heart attacks and heart failure. Heart attacks occur when the blood flow to the heart is blocked. Heart attacks, if not treated immediately, can be fatal. However, technology has improved to reduce the death rate substantially. Heart failures are another major problem due to poor health. Heart failures occur when “a person’s heart muscle does not pump blood as well as it should…Not all conditions that lead to heart failure can be reversed, but treatments can improve the signs and symptoms of heart failure and help you live longer” (Mayo Clinic). However, exercising can prevent poor health and diseases and ultimately lead to a better life
