In order to understand my research paper, you first need to know the back ground of euthanasia. Euthanasia is an uncommon painless killing of a patient that is suffering from an incurable and painful disease with a dose of a lethal injection. Euthanasia is also known as assisted suicide, physician-assisted death, physician-assisted suicide, and mercy killing. It is a doctor prescribed medication which puts a person into a coma like state. The shot includes Rocuronium bromide which paralyzes all the muscles and stops breathing which is what will eventually kill the body. For them to get the dose, the person must be in a good state of mind, be diagnosed with a terminal illness that would lead to death within six months, be resident of the approve…show more content…
It is clear that there are many pros and cons to the decision of accepting euthanasia but arguably the pros outweigh the cons. Life should be a beautiful and peaceful experience but also there is no reason why death shouldn’t be either. For instance, 29-year-old Brittany Maynard who chose to end her life by euthanasia explains her reasoning for euthanasia as, “Having this choice at the end of my life has become incredibly important. It has given me a sense of peace during a tumultuous time that otherwise would be dominated by fear, uncertainty and pain.” It is such a beautiful thing to know that she was 100% comfortable with her decision and that she was taking control of the time she had left on earth. A person’s last moments should be full of tranquility and euthanasia can provide that. Of course, the grief and denial of family is going to hurt but seeing a loved one be in so much pain must hurt more. In an interview, Brittany Maynard’s husband described the moment of his wife’s death as, “It truly was the most peaceful experience that you could ever hope for when you talk about a person’s passing,”. Altogether, the points used to support euthanasia are just highlights of how a person should be able to live out there last days. No one should go through excruciating pain awaiting their death. Everyone should have a choice for what happens to them while on earth even if that choice is to die. Euthanasia grants a dying person harmony and solitude within death. Who are we to deny
