Cows protect grass by eating shrubs and things that might compete; also they spread grass seeds and fertilizer with manure. Their daily diet in CAFO contains corn, protein supplement (containing molasses and urea), antibiotic drugs, alfalfa hay, and silage, these will be ground up and turned into feed. Cows used to be feed cow even though these animals are herbivores it was protein. They put scarps of meat into the feed. In till an outbreak of mad cow disease in England, mad cow disease is when something eats infected cow brain.
After having her piglets, a sow may be pinned to the floor for four to seven weeks in order to keep the sow from rolling over on her babies. Cows may be fed steady diet of molasses laced saw dust, shredded newspaper, plastic pellets, poultry manure, and processed slaughter house wastes in order to gain weight faster. Confinement is so complete that the animals do not have room to move (206). Not only are the animals forced to live in this unnatural environment, they are also pumped full off antibiotics, hormones, steroids, and are dipped in pesticides. Over half the cattle and nearly all pigs, calves, and poultry are fed a steady diet of antibiotics and related Jarboe 2 medications to help control diseases.
The cow has trouble urinating and defecating. Treating a cow with bloat with anti-bloat preparation, after treatment the cow needs to keep moving to encourage the preparation to mix with the frothy rumen content. When the bloat is more progress the cow needs to be treated by the veterinarian. A stomach tube can be inserted to relieve the gas build up and pressure. The cow needs to continue to move and anti foaming agents can be inserted into the stomach tube to directly mix with the foam from the bloat.
During the 1800’s people went on with their daily lives drinking milk believing they knew where it came from. Farmers believed that if you named your cows instead of giving them numbers they would produce much better. People got their milk from a farmer that owned cows. They would bring the cow door to door asking the customer if they wanted to buy it. If these people wanted milk they would come outside with a bucket or bottle to fill it up.
It is common that cows get infected with the disease but don’t show any sign of lameness until introduced to high stress levels or environmental components that cause the bacteria to become harmful. It is hard for the farmer to diagnose the disease but when they do it is often too late. It is painful to the animal so they become lame and will cause their milk production to decrease drastically. When a cow becomes lame they will often spend most of their time lying down in the stalls, in order to create milk they need to walk around, drink lots of water, and most importantly eat their feed. Studies showed 1.7% of milk is reduced per day with the disease, infertility problems are also affected up to 20 days from calving to the 1st service (calving to first ... ... middle of paper ... ... a minute or two to wrap the infected foot and apply the powder.

The animals in slaughterhouses are given a massive amount of antibiotics, hormones, and drugs to keep them alive in conditions that are so bad they would otherwise kill them. Cows are naturally very gentle and calm creatures. These smart and sweet natured animals have been known to go to great lengths to escape slaughterhouses. More than forty-one million of these sensitive animals suffer and die a painful death each year in the United States. When cows are still very young they are burned with hot irons, there testicles are torn or cut off, all without painkillers.
Whole foods, rather than a supplement, provide an optimal synergy of compounds that your body absorbs and uses. If you're unsure if you're getting an adequate amount of vitamins, consult with your doctor. Overdosing on vitamins through supplements can be dangerous. • Beta-carotene Found in carrots, sweet potatoes, and green peppers, among other foods, this antioxidant is converted in the body to vitamin A and is important for healthy vision, a functioning immune system, and good skin. • Calcium Our bodies need calcium—mostly found in dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese—to maintain healthy bones and prevent osteoporosis.
Our Food Has Feelings Too A piece of meat, a glass of milk, or even an egg might seem pretty harmless. Everyone knows where they come from but most choose not to think about it. The truth is that the piece of meat sitting on your plate at dinner came from an animal that was tormented and put through enormous stress and pain to get from the ‘farm’ to the dinner table. Farms that breed and raise animals for meat and other such things aren’t at all what we picture. Green meadows where the animals graze in peace for the few short years of their lives have been replaced by “fresh produce factories”.
In most cases it is produced by microorganism, invading and multiplying inside the udder. This bacteria population produces toxins that degrade and wound the udder. Mastitis could be Clinical and sub clinical. Over 100 kinds of bacteria are proven to cause Mastitis in both grades; also high temperatures are proven to cause a mastitis blemish. Because of this, mastitis rooted in infected population of cows is hard to determine (Schroeder, 2012).
