For decades, there has been constant conflict on whether or not children should be used in war or battle. Millions of children have been forced into fighting for militaries. The question is, should child soldiers be given amnesty?

“Children are forced by commanders through false promises, drugs and things which you can’t even imagine, to kill innocent civilians, other children, and even their own families.” This quote from Child Soldiers helps give a good idea of what these children are being put through and what they are being forced to achieve. Children are being given narcotics, being put in front of a television screen playing the famous action movie, Rambo, and being thrown onto the battlefield to kill any and all enemies. These children were given a choice, you could either live and fight with the military, or you could leave and get shot. Most children made the decision to leave, but after the first few children tried to leave, the others realized that it resulted in death, and the only way to stay alive was to fight. Fighting with this sinister army was their only shot at survival. They soon learned the extremities of what they would be forced to do, and it wasn’t pretty.

“Brainwashed by his commanders, force-fed a mixture of cocaine and gunpowder called "brown brown." This quote tells the reader what Ishmael Beah, a child soldier, was drugged with and how dangerous the drugs were. Anyone who has an education in drugs, knows that mixing drugs can lead to terrible consequences, even death. Not only were the commanders forcing them to consume cocaine, they were mixing it with gunpowder which brought a surplus of health risks and dangers. But obviously, the commanders couldn’t have cared less and did whatever they had to do to have strong and brutal child
