The patient was more beautiful than she realized. If only she could see it for herself. The color from her dainty face had drained to a sickened green tint and her eyes widened in fear. The walls of the clinic exam room were ordained in calming colors, but offered the young woman no comfort. She continued to blink rapidly as if she would awaken from the nightmare; her long eyelashes could not fan the health worker’s words away. She thought it was harmless, just a night of fun. It made her feel valuable and attractive. Yet being desired now left her alone, crumpling to the floor screaming between sobs and desperately reaching to the empty air around her. She couldn’t grasp any security. Not only did that harmless night of fun result in her becoming …show more content…
(CDC) Casual sex is never just casual but rather a game of Russian roulette with bullets of emotional damage, unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmittable disease. Most people are deluded, believing that casual sex is emotionally safe when it is not. These views claim that there is no commitment to the partner, therefore lacking intimacy. Details of personality, family, an individual’s life and how an individual reacts to a situation are not communicated. It would seem to be difficult to become emotionally involved, which could easily cause the person to be vulnerable to stress and heartache. After all, with no emotional ties the individual can’t be emotionally hurt. If a problem does arise there are no commitments so the partner can easily be abandoned. However, this is not true. Sex always equals emotional bindings and even so called casual sex therefore creates emotional damage. Scientifically, the act of sex stimulates receptive nerves in the …show more content…
Many people would say this issue is easily solved; simply have an abortion at the cost of tax payers hard earned money. However, it was not the tax payer that made an irresponsible choice and they should not bare the finances. Also, abortion can cause major health problems and infertility. Most mothers to be later state they suffer depression due to the loss of the child. That’s fine many say, there are other options. Better yet, if you keep the child there is a plethora of assistance options yielded by the government. These opinions have not considered the true responsibility and hardships of parenting, especially young or single parenting. While there are helpful programs for childcare, food assistance and even housing, these programs cannot raise a child for the next eighteen years. Rather, they are to supplement during times of hardship and poverty. For the next eighteen years, the parent is now legally responsible for any mental, emotional and physical needs of the child. When such needs are neglected, government agencies investigate and are the legal authority one must answer to. Rearing a child properly requires an extraordinary amount of self-sacrificing. Financial provisions such as a proper home, food, water and clothing are staples in needs requiring a parent to work. The child’s health results in co pays, medications, and other medical bills. Arrangements for child care and
Conor Kelly argues in her article, “Sexism in Practice: Feminist Ethics Evaluating the Hookup Culture” that the hookup culture is sexist and disempowers women. Although, he mentions it is difficult to define “hooking up” but majority of the students will agree that it involves “some level of sexual activity without the constraints and expectations of a relationship” (Kelly 65). In other words, when two people have casual sex with no strings attached, when they both finish they both can go on with their lives without
According to Zastrow (2014), women burdened by unwanted children cannot receive proper job training (p. 560). If women who are already struggling have children, they will not be able to afford childcare, resulting in staying home and not working. Therefore, these women and their children are trapped in a vicious poverty and welfare cycle. Studies have shown that women who are denied access to an abortion are more likely to face financial hardships and receive public assistance after the denial. Women denied the procedure are three times as likely to end up below the federal poverty line, in comparison to women who are able to obtain care (The EACH Woman Act (H.R. 2972), 2016). Additionally, the children suffer especially if they live have to live in poverty with unmet needs. If there are bans on funding, women do not get the final say regarding their family structure. They do not have the autonomy to limit their families to the number of children they desire and can physically and emotionally manage to pay for. Because its effects resonate beyond the policy realm, there has been discontent with the Hyde Amendment since it was enacted in the
How would you feel if someone took away your ability to live and have a future? You wouldn't have the opportunity to crawl, take your first step, have your first kiss, or experience those butterflies in your stomach at the sight of first love. Millions of special moments, a life, shredded to pieces. This is essentially what abortion does. Abortion is not the answer in the case of an unplanned pregnancy and needs to be stopped! First of all, abortion is a type of unnecessary murder that occurs in inhumane ways and cannot be tolerated. Moreover, there are alternatives to abortion and many families who are looking to adopt. Lastly, the side effects of abortion can cause life threatening health risks to the mother. Excuses will always be made, but the bottom line is that abortion is not acceptable and should be stopped.
There are other options instead of an abortion. One could set up an adoption plan instead. They both still come with pain but knowing that a child could have a life is a better feeling. An adoption is giving away all legal rights to another family to take care of a child that somebody cannot. There is also open adoption, which is where the birth mother and the adoptive parents come to an agreement where they can get regular updates on the child. They could get pictures, meetings with parents or even play dates with the child. The law however does not enforce that method.
An abortion is a surgical removal of a fetus. In some cases, women may not want to go through the surgical part and just want the pill or remove the child. I am not for aborting a child and I say this because a fetus is an unharmed child even if the child was brought into this world as an accident or even on purpose. Just imagine if someone was killing you right now! While you are alive as the beating of your heart beat per second and all of a sudden there is a crucible pain. To me it should not be legal, if it very miserable and disgusting. Abortions should only be preformed if there is a serious problem. Not just because you do not want a child because there are other options like adoptions. Carrying around a child for nine months and not being able to have the baby in your presence may seem like a waste of time. I feel that once you find the right foster parents, then everything will fall into place and you will fall back into you comfort
For generations sex has been a part of our culture. It used to be that sex was a sacred thing reserved for marriage. It still is; however, it is a much less of a common find today, especially among teens and younger adults. This is a problem physically, mentally and emotionally. ‘Hooking up’ ‘one-night stand’ ‘sex with no strings attached’ is the act of having sexual relations that are supposed to mean nothing and are a ‘one time’ thing. Or as it was described in “Hookups and Sexual Regret Among College Women.” “a sexual encounter, usually lasting only one night, between two people who are strangers or brief acquaintances” (Eshbaugh) Yet the hookup culture is swiftly destroying our generation’s view on love, happiness, love, and relationships. Our generation is being left unprepared, unhappy, and unloved as the hookup culture consumes us; making our world a darker and emptier place.
My mother’s friend has been pregnant with a total of five children. Of those five, only four of them are still here. At the time, her family was having money troubles, and she just received news of her fourth pregnancy. Her friend had to make one of the toughest decisions of her life. It was either keep the baby and her whole family would become homeless or go to a clinic and have an abortion. Abortion should be a safe, legal option for all pregnant women when deciding the future of their unborn baby.
A woman has the right to consider many options of dealing with unplanned pregnancies that may be a final burden they don’t want to take on during a time of hardship. Many women and young teens get pregnant at a time in their lives when they are still maturing and would rather terminate a pregnancy because they feel they are not ready for the added responsibility that a baby brings and want to continue getting an education with ease instead of the stresses of having to juggling on to many responsibilities all at once. “Being a single parent may interrupt careers and the ability to earn wages if complication occurs to take care of the household bills.” (Lowen, 2014). Because we live in a society that judges and places status on people some young mothers avoid becoming young single mothers of not having to deal with parental disapproval. “Lately abortions have been on the decline since the introduction of long-term contraceptives like intrauterine devices and may be also the recent recession and the economy's unpredictability.” (Eckholm, 2014). Thanks to adoption agencies instead of aborting...
None of these encounters end in pregnancy, disease, or emotional distress. They become something to be laughed about and taken as the “norm.” References to sex are just as frequent in dialogue, yet never with serious undertones. Even if a character is mildly upset about an occurrence, by the conclusion of the half hour, everything is all right again and by the next episode it is completely forgotten. Joey will never again speak of his theater “rehearsal” with Kate, nor will Phoebe mention her “appointment” with Rick. Sex just happens and is pushed aside just as easily.
Wilson, Brenda. "Sex Without Intimacy: No Dating, No Relationships." Www.npr.org. Npr Magazine, 8 June 2009. Web. 5 Dec. 2013.
Hooking is replacing dating with casual sexual encounters, the purpose of the study is to find out if hooking up is becoming this new norm, and what the consequences of this will be on both men and women. The practice of hooking up is not new it first started happening more often after the baby boomers and the sexual revolution. Where birth control was easier to access.
THERE’s much more to sex than the genitals, seeing someone bare or even the most common goal of sex – an orgasm. Sex experts will tell you that sex is intimacy; it is opening yourselves to spiritual mingling, exposing and exploring your sexual desires. But these are sometimes hindered by social constructions of sexual behaviour – the taboos, the myths and misinformation can sometimes make something as natural as sex very complex.
Halwani states that there are five conditions that must all be met for casual sex to be morally permissible. These five conditions are as follows.
The reason that many students find casual sex appealing is the fact that it is wrong. We as human beings find the danger of doing some thing wrong intriguing. We are animals and are always testing our limits. Sex is an explored subject that is hushed as we are children growing up. We are taught that is not to be talked about and that we should always have boundaries before we practice this interesting, yet provocative action. As college students we are free from all authority and we tend to explore these new actions. Our animal instincts kick in and we are soon experiencing new emotions and feelings that we end up succumbing to under different circumstances. We explore all the different things that we are shunned away from as children and are able to do so without any authority telling us other wise. Our boundaries are set free and then we are dealt with the choice of emotional sex or casual sex. Most people do not see the emotional side of sex until they become older. As college s...
The lack of financial support is one of the top reasons why abortions occur. In recent studies, about 21% of abortions are caused by inadequate finances (operationrescue.org). An abortion costs a mere $350 to $500 (prochoice.org). The average cost of raising a child until 18 years of age is $241,080 (money.cnn.com). This large figure includes: housing, food, schooling, transportation, clothing, and healthcare. If the mother does not have these funds available, bringing a child into the world and not being able to financially support it is improbable. Most pregnancies are ended within the first trimester, because nine months of pregnancy and the delivery is a costly price of arou...
