Birth control also known as contraception has always been a very controversial subject. Since birth control prevents pregnancy by interfering with the normal process of ovulation, fertilization, and implantation. Every person has their own opinion on using birth control, on whether it is right or wrong. Religion plays a major role on people’s opinions about birth control, since many claim that it is a sin. Also many chose not to use birth control because their insurance may not cover it and can become pricey. But the biggest concern is whether it should be allowed to minors.

The type of birth control that a person has depends on the persons chose. Many people get a birth control that they feel comfortable with and doesn’t involve a great number of cons. Other people might go based on price, since not all health insurance cover birth control and they are required to pay out of pocket. There are people that disagree and others that agree that they should. Some states allow minors to get birth control without a parents consent. In AZ you can buy condoms, and you do not have to be a certain age to buy them. Teens of any age can buy condoms from a drugstore, pharmacy, grocery store, or even online. All minors are allowed to get a prescription for birth control without a parent’s permission in AZ. People fore it argue that no matter what they say if teens want to have sex they will no matter what, either with or without the parents’ consent. Just as the lack of access to birth control does not stop kids from having sex, neither does the ability to obtain contraception mean that they will start having sex. However, easy access to birth control does make sex safer. Finally, it’s been proven over and over that the abstinence-only approach, so popular in the U.S., doesn’t work. More and more teens are starting to be sexually active at a very young age. Parents that are against birth control being available for minors argue that “No girl needs to have birth control unless they are having sex. And no girl should be having sex until they are ready to care for a child.” Since one of the biggest consequences of having sex is the possibility of pregnancy.
