Abstinence! What better way to not have to worry about becoming pregnant than to not have sex. No need to worry about whether they took the pill or having to put stuff where it does not belong. Teens should practice abstinence and forget their pregnancy worries. This is not about money, politics, or laws; it is about opportunities daily teenagers have lost because of pregnancy.
The article adds, “many young women are anxious about having their first pelvic exam, so they put off getting birth control. This is bad for their health because it can lead to unplanned pregnancies. Preventing unwanted pregnancies is important for emotional, physical, and financial health.” There is no exam necessary to be prescribed birth control pills. If the only danger of taking birth control pills applies to women with specific conditions, cases, or injuries in their medical history, then birth control pills could simply be shelved and a warning label addressing those conditions placed on the package. The reality that must be faced is that teenagers will continue to be sexually active notwithstanding any risk or consequences.
High schools should teach sex education. Sexual diseases, unwanted pregnancies and abortions could be prevented if teenagers have the proper information. Some parents don’t know how to talk to their children about sex, or they are just too shy to do it. Other parents don’t even have the right information because their own parents didn’t talk to them about sex ether. Many cultures don’t allow kids to talk or ask anything sexually related until they get married, and sometimes even after that talking about sex to your parents is considered disrespectful.
There are a lot of health risks that come to birth control that teens do not know about. They are just thinking that this little pill will stop those [teens] from getting pregnant and that is it... ... middle of paper ... ...rent’s faces. They should have no right to that; they aren’t the ones raising these teens. However it’s understandable for teens to think that birth control is the way to go with everything that is on T.V and the internet. Even when the facilities say they don’t have to tell their parents they immediately think that is the way out.
An unwanted vibe from the parents can do serious mental and emotional damage to a child if it is actually born. (about.com) Of course everyone always says “What about adoption?” but adoption isn’t an alternative because statistics show that very few mothers choose to give up their baby after they’ve already went through the emotional and physical pain of actually having it. (about.com) In any case of rape or incest, forcing the pregnant woman to keep the baby would cause her psychological harm because she would remember the violent act every single time she looked down at her pregnant belly, and every time she saw her child. Teens often have unplanned pregnancies because of them being irresponsible. They may want to get an abortion because they are too young to take care of a child. Women that may have failed birth control should b... ... middle of paper ... ...ount. These aborted children are the future of our world. People say all the time the kids are the future, and yet we continue to kill them by the millions because we don’t think we can take care of them or are not responsible enough to avoid getting and unplanned pregnancy.
Abortion is wrong because it encourages people to engage in casual sex and not accept the responsibility of a resulting pregnancy. God teaches us that all life is sacred and that babies inside of the womb are human beings. Unborn babies are living human beings. The people of modern society say that abortions are not good for you or for the body, but they do little to encourage parents to keep their children. In ‘Reasons given for having…,’ statistics show that “53% of all abortions are because the future parents are not ready.” Many pregnancies result from sex through a one night stand and not a committed, marital relationship.
Everyday there are pregnant mothers who abuse drugs and alcohol totally ignoring the living, growing person inside them. Then, when these children are born, they are usually born with a drug addiction or birth defects which sometimes leads to death. One thing's for sure, these children's lives are greatly complexed before they even reach the light of day. Which leads to my position that the rights of the child should be extended to the unborn. A mother should not have the right to use drugs or drink alcohol while she is pregnant, it is unfair for the child not to even have a chance for a normal life.
There still are going to be people that won’t ask for help when they need it, especially young ladies. I believe that they should be able to get birth control without parental consent because they need to be able to protect themselves at all costs, they might be too scared to ask for it when they really need it, and if guys can get condoms without permission, then I feel that it’s only fair if girls are able to get birth control. Teenagers surely know the risks of pregnancy that come with sex, especially unprotected sex. Most boys might leave it to the girls to get birth or control or other kinds of protection, but everyone in the situation needs to be protecting themselves and taking proper precautions. (“Before You Decide.. ”) Parents should be telling their children this their whole lives, at least my mom has.
The majority of teens tell their parents about their pregnancy, but there is a smaller group of teens who do not have that kind of support in their home (Page). Parental consent laws are not helping young women or her relationship with her family. Due to abusive homes, older 17-year-olds are willing to wait and not get parental consent until their 18th birthday when they don’t have to get any kind of consent form in order to obtain an abortion.
