The never-ending war against drugs has ruined the mindset of today’s society. Every year new drug laws are enforced by the government. Millions of taxpayer dollars are being spent every year on such issues. The prisons are being over-crowed with people for possession of drugs. This controversial topic brings out the real question, have these laws accomplished anything?
One of the main anti-legalization arguments is the morality of legalizing drugs. They argue that the government should help the people and make their lives easier. They state that the government should protect the people from the evils of drug addiction. The premises in this argument are questionable. Restricting drugs completely will not solve the drug addiction problem; it will only make it worse. Drug addicts will do everything it takes to get that drug into their system regardless of whether the government will make it legal or illegal.
