Some individuals can get into a heated discussion about abortion. Abortion is a huge ethical topic on whether it is morally right or wrong. There are generally two sides that are taken “pro-life” or “pro-choice.” In this paper I will evaluate two arguments, one taking each side. After reading and evaluating each article I will state where I stand. Although, there is no clear-cut answer for some people, for me personally I am pro-life. I believe abortion is morally wrong. The first article I read was A Defense of Abortion and the author Judith Thomson took the pro-choice stance on abortion. This is her argument in standard form.

All the premises support the conclusion, but the premise number seven isn’t true. Some people believe killing non-human mammals is okay. For example, a lot of people eat meat. So I think a lot of people would think it is okay to kill a deer, cow, or turkey to eat. The rest of the points still remain strong because everyone else would agree upon premises two through five and that killing is morally wrong. I personally think abortion is morally wrong. Taking a life is wrong no matter what. I understand that the mother has rights too but under this circumstance there is another person to consider. What about the unborn babies rights? I would like to point out a couple facts that some people may not know and might want to consider before they think having an abortion is okay. The third week after conception is the embryonic period, which means that the baby’s brain, spinal cord, heart, and other organs begin to form. Then sensory receptors can start to develop, which means the fetus can feel pain. Typically, abortions can happen anywhere up to 24 weeks in some states. So at this point the fetus is developing or has developed a heart, brain, spinal cord, and other organs, and can feel pain. The fetus is developing into a baby and as in Don’s article we would agree that causing someone else pain and killing a baby would be morally wrong, along with taking any human life is
